Any news on this? Used to watch it obsessively on HBO as a kid. It’s literally the last film on my all time list to not have a respectable HD release. Really hope whoever controls the rights knows what a desirable cult classic it is. Come on Umbrella. Be my hero.

Do you have any news for a Blu-ray? Because he has a Fortress cover in Blu-ray. And if I search in Google I see Facebook links with a Blu-ray before and behind the cover.

I don't know. Maybe the Australian HD version. Looks much better than the US dvd and more grain than the UK dvd.

The aspect ratio on that BluRay is listed as 1.66:1 , the Australian DVD is 16:9.

I’m not sure if these specs are correct, but if they are then it’s not the version that’s on the Australian DVD.

I think you are correct! The blu-ray I bought from the US is a different version then the Australian dvd. But it looks good! I also have the UK Mediumrare dvd and I think that is the same transfer as the Australian dvd. Great color and looks very clean,but maybe some dnr were used on that transfer. The UK dvd is impossible to find anymore,sadly.

Still no news for a possible Blu-ray release. It would be good for the 40th anniversary.

Still hoping this gets a new release sometime soon. With The Spider Labyrinth getting a 4K release and Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II having been announced for 4K, this is probably the only movie I love that hasn't got a proper high definition release.
