Maybe he should start doing smart comedies? If they exist?

yea, I definitely think there are comedies out there in which you actually have to think about the content in order to get the joke. I don't think you see them a lot anymore, but they are out there.

Although I share the OP's dislike of Step Brothers (there are a few choice scenes but it was mostly a steaming pile of crap), I don't share his sentiments regarding those who enjoyed that movie. |

You see, I didn't like Stranger Than Fiction, maybe because its smarter than me. I think I might have a bit of an immature sense of humor but there's nothin wrong with that if it makes me laugh unintentionally.

Comedy is supposed to make you laugh. Period. People who tout their preference of comedy as a measure of their intelligence are tools.

Good point. Step Brothers is the only Will Farrell movie I've ever unintentionally laughed at. I've had some humor from his previous films but only due to other family members, I had to intentionally laugh with them.

Nah, it's probably because that movie wasn't all that funny. It's a decent enough movie, but i think it falls in the "cute" or "charming" category and not the LOL category. I'm not president of the Will Farrell fan club or anything, but i get laughs from most of his movies and his HBO stand up thing called, "You're Welcome Americ," where he basically does Bush's whole life on stage, was one of the funniest things ever. My stomach hurt from that, and damn if i haven't seen HBO replay it since. |
