Guys, the sheet metal used for steelbooks is quite thin. The reason they feel sturdy is because it is glued to the plastic liner tray properly and the plastic solidifies it. If it the metal separates from the plastic in large areas, the metal becomes exposed and very flimsy. This is a manufacturing flaw, and not an issue with the quality of materials. Unfortunately this is fairly common, especially as of late.

Plastic is what gives it integrity but it's not glued. Can pop the plastic out with a butter knife to add if no artwork or change what's there. I've took them apart often. Spine is all that's glued.

I use expired plastic gift cards rather than a butter knife since I figure a metal knife could cause unintentional scratches or damage if I'm not careful. But I only do so to repair fixable damage and never added artwork.
