This show is about the micro, not the macro, and always has been, that's what makes it so astonishingly good across both seasons; it's about character character character, not spectacle. Planets being destroyed is the sort of visual bombast reserved for the movies, rightly so IMO.

I mean Andor is hardly a small production, Gilroy puts the total budget for both seasons at $650 million but I thin he really knows where to spend it. Part of the reason hollywood loves to just go with "Big CGI location shot into small scene" cut is because its far cheaper compared to the kind of location/prop work you see here which really builds up locations.

It does seem to me that he picked up a lot of good habits from Gareth Edwards in that respect and also in using his locations tor really help sell his drama and then melded it into his superior character writing to I think make the best work of his career.

I think its notable how different Coursant for example is from previous times we've seen it, its not the epic hive of activity we've seen before but rather a kind of oppressive isolating modernism the characters feel lost in.

Andor picked up 14 nominations for its second and final season, including Outstanding Drama Series as well as Writing and Directing For a Drama Series. That that exceeds the Season 1 haul for the Star Wars offshoot, which included eight nominations, including again Outstanding Drama Series, Writing and Directing For A Drama Series.

Season 1 came about about 1.5 years after the last episode premiered on D+. So if they stick to that schedule it could be late next year.

That’s missing the point entirely though. The Empire wanted to send out the message to the galaxy that the Ghor were terrorists, the Empire being the reasonable peacekeepers were defending themselves against Ghor aggression . Broadcasting images of cities decimated by the Empire is hardly in keeping with the public narrative they’d been working towards for years.
