To be fair, that applies to both sides of the political spectrum equally, not just one side or the other. Some get upset over a Cracker Barrel logo, and some get upset because Sydney Sweeney is selling blue jeans.

Me, I just want to keep collecting movies in peace.

It's like the late comedian Bill Hicks said, and I paraphrase: Commercials are like a turd in my drink.

To make it worse, with Tubi you often have to endure the exact same ad over the entire course of the movie; that can mean stomaching the same commercial 8 times during a two hour movie. It can be maddening. It's no way to watch a movie...or anything.
To be fair, I've recently started using Tubi, Plex, and Pluto and Tubi is by far the best of the three. I didn't find the ads all that bothersome because you get a notice that a break is coming up and it usually isn't more than 30 seconds. Plus, a timer counts down how long until the movie resumes. It certainly isn't ideal, but I've reached a point where I'm trying to save money and cut back on so many blind buys, so this is an option.

I have a confession to make. I don't like those black bars either.

I thought that was the whole point of widescreen tvs, so we would no longer have to see them. That's why I loathe the 2:35:1 aspect ratio.

I could never get upset about Sydney selling jeans, in fact, I’m tempted to apply to be her fitter.

Lol!

I still think she would be perfect in the upcoming Basic Instinct remake, despite some arguing that she is too young for that role. I'm also really looking forward to seeing her in Americana. Has anyone here seen it?

I'm glad that you can tolerate it better than I, but having the pop-up warning of an upcoming ad break bothers me even more; it is yet another distraction from the movie. Who needs such a notice? The ads themselves are bad enough already.

I have seen ads run for a full minute and as I said previously seeing the same ad 8 times during one movie is infuriating.

Presently, the only purpose Tubi has for me is a place to see Sharks Of The Corn.

Oh no!!

Don't worry, whenever black bars are present, I never zoom in, lol.

I'm also not turning to the dark side regarding streaming. It's just an option to have. Besides, my best friend recently took me to a Barnes & Nobles since I've never been to one, and I ending up purchasing about eight movies, so owning is till my top priority.

I remember the spouse and I comparing a P&S and letterboxed movie via LD. We both liked how much more of the picture we could see with the letterboxed version. At the time we had a Kloss Novabeam with a 78" screen, see pic. Did not have many but treasured our CAV LD titles.

Look at the silver box on top of the equipment racks. That is a JVC HM-DH30000U D-VHS D-Theater machine. Exciting times, HD movies for home use had arrived. I was just waiting for JVC to release a native HD 16 x 9 panel projector.

You guys actually watch commercials? I just turn the volume off and do other things like continue to watch the show on a second browser when commercials running. If a commercial is over 20 to 30 seconds I won’t ever see it.

It is a rare occurrence for me to watch any source that has commercials as I absolutely loathe them. Using the mute button stifles the noise of the ads, but the flow of the movie has still been disrupted and will continue to be disrupted throughout the runtime.

To be very clear, my assertion that we as a species are becoming less intelligent is neither hyperbole or political. I believe it is what will eventually wipe us out. It doesn't affect any race or political affiliation any more or less than any other...If you truly understand evolution, you know that intelligence has rarely been what constitutes survival of the fittest and that some traits can snowball and kill off a species in rather quick succession.

Almost everything we now know about Neanderthals points to them having been more intelligent than us...It was our propensity for violence and thus willingness to kill them off that led to homo sapiens dominance..

A girl i dated in high school had a unit like that in her basement...We watched a lot of movies on that setup and I was a prefect gentleman in that basement... though that had more to do with the fact that her dad was a corrections officer and scared the crap out of me than the cool TV... 😎

I don't disagree with you at all. Also, please know the eyerolling emoji I posted was not directed towards you at all. Just at how silly people act these days getting offending over every little inconsequential thing.

Since you mentioned Neanderthals, I just learned that Quest for Fire is getting a snazzy new release from Umbrella
