Micah Parsons Traded to Packers

The heated summer drama between star edge rusher Micah Parsons and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has ended — surprisingly, with Parsons finding a new home.

The Cowboys agreed to trade Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Thursday afternoon. In exchange for Parsons, the Packers reportedly sent the Cowboys two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Parsons will sign a four-year, $188 million deal with the Packers upon joining the team, including $136 million guaranteed.

His $47 million average salary makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The new deal for Parsons also outpaces the three-year, $123 million extension of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, who became the league’s highest-paid non-quarterback in late July, about a week before the team reported for training camp.

Last report I saw was that Parsons and Dallas were like 2.5 million apart. If that small of money necessitated a trade, then Jerry needs to sell his team or stop playing in the Sandbox thinking just because they are Dallas ppl will want to play for whatever money he says he will pay them.

I still stand by it. players requesting a trade as a negotiating tactic is common and 99% of the time the result is the team and the player coming to an agreement, especially when the player is considered to be a generational talent like Parsons.
But perhaps you're right and I should've taken into account what an idiot Jerry is.
I guess at the end of the day I am ok with being "wrong" because its all just so god damned hilarious ...

... which brings me to the fact I haven't seen any DAL fans happy about this move. Barring major injuries, the Packers were already expected to be good now you add Parsons to the mix - these first rounders are likely to be in the 25-32 range lol

First of all, relax. It was a joke. Maybe my settings are different than yours, I only went back 1 or 2 pages at most as I remembered your comment about this. Tactic or not, trades do happen and it’s funny to see them happen, especially with a guy like Jerry Jones at the helm.

What a surprising blockbuster trade. Really didn't expect Dallas to actually part with a dominant, All-Pro whose still only 26 years old. Especially so if the reports of the 2 sides only being a couple million apart on a new deal were true. Sounds like something with Jerry Jones handwriting all over it. Seems highly unlikely even 2 1st round picks is anywhere close to making the deal worth of for Dallas, unless they somehow land a future HOF'er with one of those picks. Packers defense just got a whole lot better and the NFC North ever stronger.

They won a playoff game 2 yrs ago.

Love the trade been saying trade em all along.
Cowboys werent winning anyways so now they get players on rookie deals.
Dak ceedee micah wouldve been almost 50% of the cap cant do that.
Now they have 4 #1 pix next 2 yrs can package them for trades if want.

Micahs been in 4 playoff games & has a whopping 1 sack.
