Default Screen Archives Sale!

Posted by OceanBlue in the ClassicFlix thread:

"Apologies for not posting this sooner (had forgot to make a note for this post). Screen Archives Entertainment posted on their Facebook page on Thursday last week (August 7th) that they have a Classicflix sale on select titles until next Wednesday (August 20th). No code is needed."

Thought it would be good to have some boutique sales info posted for a change.

Rick

Default Screenbound sale

It appears that Screenbound has just launched its Bank Holiday weekend sale on the website. Some decent-looking Blu-ray titles.

Shout Factory is having a Going Out of Print Sale from now till 26 August.

Up to 80% off.

There are some bargains in there, although rather strangely Nightbreed [Collector's Edition] + 2 Posters + Slipcover is listed in the sale, but at its regular price.

Yeah, and there are so many titles in that sale which have been appearing in so many of these Shout Going-Out-of-Print sales, my guess is that they are going out-of-print eventually, someday, but not anytime soon. There's not many (any?) noteworthy price cuts, and it looks like an opportunity to topload a bunch of "premium" collector sets and steelbooks. If anything was worthwhile or fresh, I'd have jumped, but it's a nothingburger.

Admittedly, there is nothing in the sale that interests me that I don't already have, but…

I thought "Up to 80% off" would provide someone a noteworthy price cut.

Hard to pull the trigger on these when HamiltonBooks just had a Shout blowout, and amazon seems to be cheaper on some

Fun City Editions / Altered Innocence sale at Diabolik DVD from August 25th to September 1st:

Quote:
Here are some things you should note….
  1. If a sale title you want is out of stock you can feel safe in knowing that we will be ordering everything we need from the warehouse consistently during the sale
  2. The sale is during this period only and not good for past purchases (BUT if you just ordered or your order is in preorder or you just ordered an included title, drop us an email and we will work it out)
  3. All orders will ship in full when all items are in stock, so if you order a preorder title along with your sale items, you will receive everything when the final title in your order is released. If you prefer not to wait, you should place multiple orders as we are unable to make shipping exceptions during the sale
  4. We cannot combine or add sale titles to older orders
  5. Please allow at least a week for your order to be processed during the sale. The extra volume clogs things up a bit and we would rather not skimp on the time we spend making sure the orders are packed well. We won’t be able to answer any “ORDER STATUS” emails during the sale.
  6. These titles aren’t 40 or 50% off, what gives? Sale prices are given to us based on the SRP of the title. 40 or 50% off our normal price would be amazing, but sadly, that is not what we are able to offer. We are grateful to be able to offer these sale prices to you so please enjoy !
  7. Titles and Pricing Are Set by the Label
  8. All of the Sale Titles are Available here
  9. See Number 1

Sorry for crashing the thread but I know this topic popped up here before. Is this being discussed anywhere?

It's a halt until everyone sees exactly what will happen and how it will work. Presumably a backlog is preferable to tons of refused/returned parcels.

It'll either get worked out or US customers will have to pay a lot more to import. I'm not thrilled about it, but it's not top of the list of my current life concerns (and around a quarter of my large collection are imports, so it does affect me).

BluRay disks and other media should not be tariffed, due to the Berman Amendment.

The Berman Amendment, part of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), was passed in 1988 and expanded in 1994. It prohibits the U.S. government from restricting or imposing tariffs on "informational materials", even when dealing with countries under trade sanctions. Informational materials include BluRay disks, DVDs, CDs, books and films.

Since 2015 the US Customs service has had customs classification 8523.49.40.00 making pre-recorded BluRay disks, DVDs and CDs imported under that classification duty free.

So legally 4Ks, BDs, and DVDs should all be able to be imported to the US without any tariffs. However, lately the US government seems to ignore laws they find inconvenient. Who knows what will happen with BDs?

BDs are a minuscule percentage of all imports into the US, so pretty much no one is paying attention to them. The various European mailing services and other shippers are trying to figure out a system where the recipient pays any duties and tariffs up front as part of the shipping charge. The shipper will then pay customs at the border. However, since they've never had to do that previous for small value (under $800) de minimus shipments to the US--and the US hasn't had a system for receiving those payments--both the US and foreign sides are still figuring out how to make that all work. Thus a shipping halt for now.

Proposed tariffs seem to be shifting frequently, which makes it even harder for the shippers and customs to implement. When the US first tried to implement this in February for shipments from Asia millions of packages were backed up as the customs service tried to figure out how to make it work.

Not importing any more blus or games with the stupid tariffs coming into place. Sucks but I was able to grab most of what I wanted beforehand. I'm hopeful common sense will prevail on the de minimis issue but until then, done with buying from outside entities.
