So looking forward to this. Not much of a fan of Momoa but at least there's finally a show about mo'olelo kahiko o na pae 'aina (ancient history of the islands) . There might not be a huge interest elsewhere but A LOT of people in Hawai'i are excited for this series.

First two episodes are streaming. So far, so good... I think the majority of the series is subtitled, which I don't mind because they are speaking the native language. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say I'm looking forward to episode 3 on Friday.

I live in Hawai'i and I can't recall anything as of late that is as big of a show as this is (well, maybe when Iam Tongi won Amercian Idol). Cultural practitioners, teachers, politicians, kama'aina and malihini all are claiming this series to be nothing short of monumental and historic.
It is the most expensive series AppleTV has produced (around $34 million per episode), majority of the eps in 'olelo Hawai'i (which I have studied and can thankfully comprehend), and finally shows Hawai'i in its precolonial times. There were lots of creative liberties made but overall very entertaining. |

I finally got around to watching the first two episodes and was very impressed. It was beautifully shot, the cast is fantastic, the action is intense and well filmed. It definitely reminded me of the movie Apocalypto (2006) in a lot of ways. I would say 95% of the first two episodes are spoken in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, which was interesting. Really looking forward to the rest of the miniseries. Highly recommended.
