Forgot I hadn't ordered this. I used my £5 credit along with an influencer code, this came in at £14.20 shipped. Lovely job.

I got this as a blind buy and was expecting to enjoy it but wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. Tense, pacy and brutal, it's one of the best "survive the night" movies I've seen in a long time.

i wish arrow would release the tv movie final jeopardy with richard Thomas and mary crosby when the two of them get lost in new york and get chased by a gang because i've not seen that film since the 90s when ITV showed it late at night and they have not released a tv move since the initiation of sarah and i think final jeopardy would go well with it.

For some reason I’d got it into my head that the Vampires were actually vampires. I spent the first half waiting for a Sinners-type revelation that never came. D’oh!

But it’s great and the disc is excellent.

Another blind buyer here who really enjoyed it. As I've said elsewhere, it's exactly the kind of thing Arrow was initially founded on but seems to have got forgotten about in all the big titles recently: Lost '80s video shop cult rarities.

I couldn't honestly call it a stone cold classic, but it's great fun with some good action, HUGE performances from some of the actors (Tony Todd & Jan-Michael Vincent, I'm looking at you ), & properly tense in places. The makers of Die Hard clearly lifted a few ideas from it.

As someone who spent most of the '80s in a video store, I'm amazed I'd never seen it before.

As for the disc, for a 38-year old no-budget borderline exploitation flick it looks & sounds great. Extras-wise, the two interviews are very good (did Ernest Dickerson light his one? I think it's the best looking talking head extra I've ever seen ) & the first commentary is quite informative (haven't listened to the second yet). Pity they couldn't get Ray Parker Jr or Stacey Dash to sit for a chat.

Overall: from me. Recommended!

ps. Wonder if The Boogie Boys got sued by John Carpenter for using his Halloween theme in the end credits song?

pps.
[Show spoiler]Pretty sure they could all have squeezed through that window in the basement.

[Show spoiler]Is the old woman's insurance policy now invalid? Presumably as the company never got her payment, the policy would be void? Her granddaughter's gonna be pissed!

I enjoyed this. Will make a great triple bill with Siege and Judgement Night.

I wonder if that's the music that's caused all the rights issues here in the states.

Indeed. This was my #1 most-wanted release for years after watching a grimy copy on YouTube a while ago. These siege/"survive the night" movies, where a group of embattled people have to endure a hellish nocturnal odyssey in an urban warzone, scratch a particular itch for me.

John Carpenter (Assault on Precinct 13/Escape from New York) and Walter Hill (The Warriors/Trespass) are the kings of this juicy brand of pulp entertainment, but Siege (which I think I actually prefer to Enemy Territory; darker and grittier) and Judgment Night slot beautifully in here, and in more recent times you have Attack the Block, The Purge: Anarchy and VFW (all very clearly influenced by these types of films.)

Enemy Territory was the long lost linchpin here, as it features elements from the earlier films while doing things itself that would inspire the ones that came after. I'm so happy to finally own this, and in such a spiffy release from Arrow too. The interviews with Dickerson and Frank were quite enjoyable, I just wish they had gotten Parker to sit down and talk about his lone foray into acting.

Can't thank Arrow enough for finally getting this one out there. Now if I can finally get another as-coveted favorite also consigned to the bowels of YouTube, The Midnight Hour, as well as Night Life, I'll have everything I truly need as a film collector.

For those who have this and wonder why no 4K?

As per the booklet the OCN was scanned in 4K but the restoration work was finished in 2K.

I thought this was pretty decent. It did feel like Siege aka Self Defense and Tenement, only a little less brutal, although there were a couple of scenes which shocked me a little.

It felt like a gritty TV movie, but it really needed a better director. Stacey Dash was stunning. And Tony Todd was great (as always). And 'Psycho' (the character, not the film)? Come off of it. Ridiculous.

Picked this up recently, hoping to watch soon.

The hype on the board for this seemed to die down quickly!

Indeed. I was hoping friends would be interested in seeing it on a movie night, but nobody bit. So it's been on my watch pile among other recent arrivals. Currently just at the top of it actually, probably will watch tomorrow.
