Yeah, and an episode of Night Gallery, which I haven’t seen. Waiting for the boxset, but no release date as yet, just a placeholder.

But honestly, maybe discs are USMCA compliant.
According to international law if something is passing through (unchanged) then tariffs should not apply, because it does not count as importing. I would assume movies will be completely packaged in Mexico before shipping and for the most part (with Canadian labeling will be destined to go to Canada for retail there. So technically they should not be tariffed by US customs. But then again that assumes abiding by the law and things being IDed for Canadian market.

Here things are mostly easy (big countries all with access to the ocean. But imagine Asia, Europe or Africa where there are small countries that are land locked and so some goods might pass through dozens of countries before getting to final destination.

pretty useless comment when everyone knows the File Bitrates are no where near the same (and chances are exceptionally good that they never will be close)

There is no reason to up streaming data rates because the world seems to be satisfied with what they are getting now. The world leader in streaming is Netflix with a paltry ≤ 3.4 Mbps (here). For the US if one looks at The Gauge (here) almost 88% of viewers is watching at relatively low data rates. Us disc users is included in the Other 12% but the Other includes other categories like gaming.

Agree. That is why I can't imagine it ever happening and why I find it ridiculous to define it as a tech issue. Why would the streamers pay millions more for higher quality, when their customers tell them "I don't care for quality but want the cheapest price possible".

The only reason I don't jump into Kaleidescape now is because I have a viable alternative...In fact, for me personally, things have never been better with respect to quantity, quality, access and delivery window from cinema to home..

Once that stops, then we'll pay a premium for the highest quality available as has been the case before with each new format.... the next always bringing with it something better than last..

I think I would chose iTunes over Kaliedesape but I hope to goodness I am never faced with that choice.

In the meantime I get what I can in high quality while such a thing still exists. This is one of those get um while you can moments.

This is the first time things have gone backwards though, VHS>DVD>Blu-ray>UHD>streaming.

Disc formats still well and truly alive of course, but the masses going for streaming, which doesn’t strive for any quality standards.

Maybe blockchain ownership with protections and improved bit rates is the future? Who knows.

How much are prices going to jump up with tariffs? Isn't Mexico at 25% for importing into the USA?

Same here. I think Apple is pretty good. I have quite a bit of stuff in FAH too but they seem like they still have a lot of older masters that aren't being upgraded. We watched The Host on there the other day. Still has only stereo sound, no surround sound. Switched over to Apple which gives you DD+ 5.1. Blu-ray is still better but I didn't want to dig through my binders to get the disc out.

anything included under USMCA remains unchanged as far as tariffs are concerned. None of us know if packaged media falls under it.

Absolutely... right now in this moment hence my reasoning for not jumping in yet..

What a day! Dead Of Night U.K. 4K announced and Star Angel as a top flight filthy release.

Most people wouldn’t post that last bit, but I’m not most people.
