Probably not going to find out for much less than $4.95, considering media mail is $4.63 now.

On a road trip stopped by a couple stores, One had the rotating display but all the movies were sent back. The other had the Sony titles for 1/2 off got 2022's Incarnation for 50% off 2.98 even though I told the lady it didn;t qualify

I travel a lot for work and I make it a point to find Dollar Generals to stop by and check their movie selection. DG seems to be obscure for people actually looking for movies, so if they get a decent stock, it doesn't move quickly. I recently went in one that looked like the tall cardboard spinner display hadn't been moved in 3 years. When I moved it, there were movies behind on the ground covered in 2" of dust.

Because of this, I can usually find some movies I don't have, or on occasion some diamonds in the rough. I know Diamond Luxe is hit or miss with people around here as to whether you like them or not, but they were very limited re-releases of movies that are in what I feel is a nice tri-fold weighted steelbook-esque design and I think it offers more than steelbooks do for visual appearance inside and out. DG is the only place I've ever found them and have 4 or 5 - Natural Born Killers, Gremlins, Ben-Hur, and one or two others.

Speaking of Steelbooks, I've found quite a few at DG for $4.95 - Das Boot, Clash of the Titans, Oceans 8, Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, Superman Returns, and the other day surprisingly Gremlins.

4K's are rare to find at DG, but I've picked up Hurricane Heist 4K and Hostiles 4K both for $2.95.

I find a lot of DigiBooks - East of Eden, Chariots of Fire, The Big Parade, Son of God, Rebel Without A Cause, The Killing Fields, Viva Las Vegas, and was happy to find Driving Miss Daisy the other day since I don't have the blu-ray.

I find interesting collections like the Frank Sinatra 5-film collection, Ultimate Gangsters Classics, Musicals, Woodstock, Lethal Weapon 1-4, The Frank Darabont Collection (Green Mile, Majestic, and Shawshank), Sun Sand & Sweat 4-movie collection, and other obscure finds. I also find a lot of anime series to add to my growing collection that I want to watch.

Special collector sets with additional items like toys, plush, shirts, etc show up now and then. The Lorax with plush toy, Lego Movie 3D with 3D Face box, with lunchbox, Species with 4 Mondo Cards, A League of Their Own 25th Anniversary Gift Set.

I have 7,000 movies and according to My Movies db data, purchased 237 from DG over the last year, a majority for $2-$5. As many here say their DG's are crap when it comes to selection, I know it is hit or miss as some DG's have nothing while others have 2 spinners and half an aisle full of stuff. Getting the $10 off $25 on Saturdays is nice now and then when you can find that many to buy at one location. When you only visit your 2 or 3 in your local area, you won't see much change. But if you venture out, you will come across some interesting finds. I have probably hit up 40-50 DG's in my travels. I find DG to be much better than the Dollar Tree fall off and disappearance of all movies there.

Here is a pic of some of my recent finds over the last 2 weeks... Probably nothing special to some of you, but when I have 7k movies and can find titles I don't have at a DG for far less than Amazon or eBay, I'm happy to add them to my collection!

How did you manage to amass 7k movies and not have Gremlins

My favorite that I have found there this year was Looney Tunes Back in Action in small town of less than 3k people as I was passing through with my brother. Actually we found 2 copies, one for each of us. Being Looney Tunes fans and for $5 we couldn't turn them down.

I feel like after the 50% off sale in March all of the dollar general's in my area (NEPA) stopped carrying blus and now just have SDS marked DVD's.

I've had the blu-ray for Gremlins for a while, then had the 1 & 2 combo blu, then found the Diamond Luxe, now I found the Steelbook. Probably spent $14 total on the 4 different versions. But I like to "upgrade" even if I own just the standard version. The Diamond Luxe is a beautiful set, but I collect Steelbooks as well.

I haven't been to Dollar General in several months, might check it out again. Applesauce is a very strange movie. I grabbed my copy on Blu-ray several years ago for $1.25 at Dollar Tree. Not sure if/when I'll watch it again.

There was a new dvd/blu top shelf shipper sitting out filled with Disney blu's and some other random blu's. Disney titles were $4.95 and non-Disney were $2.95.

Titles I can recall included:

Disney - Incredibles 2, Guardians Of The Galaxy vol 2, Ralph Breaks The Internet, Thor Ragarok, Avengers Endgame, Planes: Fire & Rescue, Beauty & The Beast and more.

Non-Disney - Bad Times At The El Royale, Life (2017), Ghostbusters (2016) and more

The shippers also had the Treasure Hunt Blu-Ray disc only sleeves which consisted of Disney titles as well, but I can only recall Onward.

I just stopped by mine yesterday and the same old stuff. They did have a 50% off Sony and one other DVDs. Nothing priced below $4.95 for Blu-rays, all Disney movies $9.95 and up, none of the titles you mentioned. I guess I just have to wait as their current "spinner" was already full with no other location for movies so it might be years before I see them (even if they already have the shipper in the back).

What is strange is there was one Blu (forget the title) for $4.95 that had the current yellow sticker over the red clearance sticker.

I swear my store is the most bi-polar location when it comes to dealing with it's movie stock. All of a sudden this week they decided to pull out all the Blu's on the rack located in the crafts section and keep the DVDs. They've been recently getting rid of those rack at other locations, so I figured that's the next step. I then proceed to check out and by the registers there's a brand new waist high box display with five rows of new titles as well as random $1 Xbox 360 games and a PSP UMD movie for Galerians: Rion.

The titles consisted of your typical Dove, family films, DTV westerns, Marvel titles as well as a complete season of True Blood for $4.95. Essential Eastwood blu ray collection for $6.95 and a lot of Horror titles from MPI/IFC films all for $2.95. Not to mention the random Full Moon Grindhouse release for End Of The World.

Here's the titles which stood out that I can recall off top of my head.

I have yet to find a Detroit Rock City Blu-ray or King Kong digibook. Fluffy Gamer found a Delirious John Candy Kino DVD earlier this year, so that made me want to go back to locations I went to years ago. Not sure if I would've passed on Delirious back then or not. Search tells me 1 person found several copies of it back in 2020.

i think you missed the boat on the blus. over a year or so i went to hundreds of DGs looking for rare and oop blus. i bet i found 10 copies of DRC and KK. along with many others. i think the word got out due to sights like this one and most have already been found.

I have actually started to look at the DVDs which i previously ignored. found that Delirious a few weeks back. as well as some old oop things like "Hollywood Boulevard"

I still reminisce about the days of stores overflowing with blu rays and the Black Friday $1.25 glitch. I saved this post from back then (2018) and read it occasionally because it’s so funny and also describes my experience.

I recently found this US Manga Corps' DVD at a Dollar General the next town over.

No idea what warehouse this was in, according to Amazon's listing it was originally released July 14, 2000.
