Latest update I heard was that they are trying to get distribution sorted for Robodoc 2 and 3. Rough edits are done and both total around four hours.

It’ll be nice to get this all done and dusted to be honest, same for the Police Academy doc.

For sure!! I backed The Police Academy doc and alot of these other docs (Penny Wise, Cleaning Up The Town, WW2 Fairly Tale, Your So Cool Brewster) and they've all pretty much gone over on their delivery dates and big time and frustrating have been available to buy on amazon before the backers even received their copy's .

I know people hit on the In Search of Darkness and In Search of Tomorrow and other Creator VC docs as cash grabs but at least they deliver on time usually and get them to the backers pretty much asap.

Did the backer variations (VHS packaging set etc) materialise in the end?

Nope. Last I was told that the VHS sleeve hasn’t been finalised yet as they are waiting for all the ‘series’ to be released so they can ensure it all fits all of them.

I wonder if they're any closer to releasing the Police Academy and Ghostbusters II docs? Also, I think Robodoc was supposed to cover the sequels and merchandise as well?

Police Academy has been edited apparently and they’re trying to sort out distribution deals for it.

Robodoc is covering the sequels, etc. Again, they have an edit and are tying to sort distribution deals out.

The company handling have recently now started to ask for more money via merchandise sales to help pay towards the Ghostbusters 2 doc. However I don’t think we will see that for a while.

Communications and timelines on these things is more often than not very frustrating. I've backed RoboDoc, Pennywise, What We Left Behind and although I was very happy with the finished product on all of them the communication around them left a lot to be desired, and the timelines, from memory, were hugely missed.

The best crowd-funded projects that I've seen are the Life After ones that Lisa Downs has run - Flash, Navigator, The Neverending Story, currently The Goonies, comms are great, the final product is great. If all projects were run that well we'd have few complaints.

Default why bother

I don't see the point in backing these projects anymore. A couple of these docs I bought online way before backers even received theirs. A couple I backed Angela the Official Sleepaway Camp Doc and The Party's Just Begun the Night Of The Demons Doc. Have heard nothing no updates and i pledge those in 2019 and 2018. Thats just ridiculous. And i see people get attacked for being frustrated with their lack of updates.

All three have been in the works for years with only half of Robodoc covering the original movie getting a release. I do hope we don't have to wait too much longer. I feel sorry for those backers.

I think the Robodoc guys have just finished a Terrifier 3 documentary, which I don't remember seeing a crowdfunding campaign for.

They do seem to have bitten off more they can chew, spinning up so many crowdfunding projects. Alongside the rest of Robodoc, there's still:
  • What an Institution! The Story of Police Academy
  • The Party's Just Begun! Night of the Demons Doc
I never got my 'You're So Cool Brewster' poster, and I think distribution and fulfilment are a challenge for them. It appears a lot of their projects are ultimately dependant on securing a distributor to provide the final deliverables, which can then cause issues on timelines, what was promised etc.

CreatorVC are expensive, and it feels like they bulk the disc projects out with paper tat to justify the cost. They do deliver on time, or by a nearest margin, and it feels they have a well oiled machine now, although their early releases were BD-Rs. It sucks for UK supporters that the postage is so high, as they are a UK company, but replicate discs in California.

Lisa and Life After Movies, have been great with communication on 'Life After Goonies'. I picked up the three-pack of her previous releases and she does a great job packing and sending out items from her shop.

Never really thought about giving them their own little place in my collection, each is stored right next to their respective films given that I'll likely want to watch them directly after watching said films.

I will be doing this eventually as I get more, but for now I have it with the RoboCop movies. Same with Crystal Lake Memories and Friday the 13th, Never Sleep Again and Elm Street, ect...

Once I have a decent handful, they can have their own section. It'll annoy me that things like Living with Chucky and Fear of God are in the Arrow Chucky set and The Exorcist Blu-ray respectively, though!
