The Men of Sherwood Forest (1954) 4K UHD (Hammer Films) - Blu-ray Forum

Hammer Films will be releasing The Men of Sherwood Forest (1954) on 4K tentatively on November 17th. I'll update the post when more info, and artwork comes in.

With King Richard (Patrick Holt) held captive in Germany, his brother, the prince, aspires to the throne of England. In support of Richard, Sir Nigel Saltire (Douglas Wilmer) requests help from nobleman and outlaw Robin Hood (Don Taylor) to locate secret plans regarding Richard's return. Although Robin is suspected in a recent murder, he learns that the actual killers, Dicken and Hobbes, hold the plans. Robin kidnaps the men, who confess that a mysterious knight hired them to steal the plans

The Sword of Sherwood Forest and A Challenge for Robin Hood are two of my favorite Hammer films, but I've never been able to track this one down, so I am very, very in for this!

I have the German DVD from Anolis, but the print used suffered from serious damage, so this is a welcome upgrade. Hopefully an HD version of Wolfshead is also included.

How is this compared to Sword of Sherwood? That's one of my fave films, so if this is even halfway decent I'll buy it in the hope it spurs them to do a 4K release of Sword.

I'm glad these hard to find films are getting released. I'm not a big Robin Hood fan. But I do love the Hammer Pirate films.

The non-horror Hammer films would have remained in oblivion if Hammer didn't spend the time and money restoring them. These movies would not have appeared on streaming sites.
