As I see it, the Coens could land anywhere, but many films feel right only at Radiance right now.

would absolutely love Illustrious Corpses from Radiance. maybe I'm nuts but out of the 1,000 blus I have that's the first one that comes to mind as "this transfer/disc sucks and I can't wait to upgrade". it's just dark and green/yellow, with crushed and pixelated blacks.

In my opinion that wouldn't fit with Radiance, that's not the kind of stuff I "signed up" for. Maybe it would even delude the curation effort in the long run and suddenly the French flag hint wouldn't point to Une Femme Douce but Amélie, no thanks.

Has there been any confirmation that there will be be a non limited UK re-release by Radiance of Bandits of Orgosolo, and whether that release would retain the UK exclusive second disc of De Seta shorts?

From memory, the simultaneously released Lucky Luciano was even worse.

I imagine it will be Illustrious Corpses, but it could be a fun tease for something else like Vecchiali's Corps ŕ cśur

Radiance catalogue just goes from strength to strength! Greek cinema , Korean cinema etc

The Lee Chang Dong extra hints at possible future releases

Notti Bianchi - I sold my Criterion dvd in expectation of this. That had a wonderful audiobook (downloadable mp3) - I wonder if this releases uses the same one? It says 2010which doesn’t line up with Criterion 2005 release.

Ossessione next?

Radiance dive into Visconti reminds me of Masters of Cinema Antonioni editions where we got some of his rarer Italian films

Fran has created a label that has exceeded all my expectations and I am so interested to see how this journey continues ⭐️

Easily their strongest year yet in my opinion. They keep getting better and better and are releasing more and more frequently each and every year. Really excited to see what they do over the next 3 years, what a strong 3 year start though!

Totally agreed! Judging by the failed licensing lists, it’s only gonna get better. And — Claude Chabrol and Lynne Stopkewich on the cover of Dirty Arthouse Vol. 5!

I’ve never quite managed to warm to Lucky Luciano. Do you like it?

I’d actually prefer the Vecchiali over the Rosi, mainly because I don’t own Corps a coeur (though I’ve been thinking about picking up the French box set). Anyway, the hint mentioned corpse (cadavre), not just body (corps).

Can't be anything other than the Rosi actually. The only other title that comes to mind is The living dead at the Manchester morgue (aka Let sleeping corpses Lie) I joked about earlier. Probably not the best fit for the label, but I recall speculation here about a Radiance edition of it, something related to StudioCanal rights. As far as I'm concerned, the Synapse release is solid, all-region too.

I’m grateful for the Radiance Scream and Scream Again edition, but I’m still amazed they released it. I think it predated the yearly/6-month bundles but I think wouldn’t hypothetically got more grumbles than Fargo from subscribers.

I'm aware, but I was thinking laterally that the hint could be linguistic and not literal. Though the Radiance hints up until now have all been much more straightforward than they were for Arrow back in the day

Haha, yes Radiance hints are pretty straightforward for the most part. Hoping for more Vecchiali in the future and curious to see a 2026 teaser list!

Which Radiance releases were cut in the UK but uncut in the US? I think the Pulp thrillers, anything else?

Serie Noire and Slap the Monster on Page One are two. Not sure if there’s another.

Good point about the 'signed up for' bit, as obviously Radiance have subscribers, many of which would probably be confused and thrown off if they started doing things like Fargo (or other titles on that list of Paramount titles I posted yesterday like Clerks or School of Rock). These will no doubt come from Arrow, once they get around to them.

Has anyone checked out any of the Universal-licensed releases of The Hudsucker Proxy and compared with the Warner Archive US release? The film has German, French and Australian releases, so I can't imagine the master looks particularly terrible.

As for Barton Fink, again I don't think Fox/Disney hold the master, and if they do then Universal will have their own. It probably does need a nice new Arrow restoration, but so far we've not had a single Coen Bros film from Arrow and I doubt this is the priority if they ever do (The Big Lebowski, Fargo or No Country for Old Men would take precedence).

Re: The Devil, Probably - I expect it's just waiting for new stock to be pressed. It wouldn't make much sense to be OOP - it was never advertised as being limited, it's a Gaumont-owned film, and it's only just 3 years old.

I could certainly see Radiance releasing them because, as you say, there's certainly room for improvement on the extras but I can see why they would de-prioritise them. Especially because there are two other Bresson films potentially available to them: Angels of Sin (which should also be Gaumont) and Diary of a Country Priest (a StudioCanal title they've not released on Blu in the UK).
It wasn't specified, but IIRC it was a comment made after people asked if they would tackle some of the same titles as Criterion.

Good point about those other Bresson titles, and I forgot about Diary of a Country Priest. Surprised we didn't see that, as Radiance have done a couple of StudioCanal titles already and this is in clear need of a UK disc!

I imagine they've got a plan to tackle this as best they can, and I'd be surprised if they didn't also have Lucky Luciano lined up for the same treatment too. That one would presumably be through StudioCanal though, so might be a little while longer.

Any idea if the US versions are region AB?

I notice Slap the Monster on Page One is untested in the UK for A, but is confirmed AB for the US version (which surprises me given there’s a cut, so they had to do separate discs)
