Sooo... I might be a bit too early in starting this thread, but a movie that premiered at SXSW this year has quite piqued my interest.
The movie in question is titled Good Boy, but don't confuse it with the 2022 Scandinavian film of the same name, or Good Boys, the 2019 American comedy. No, this one has the premise of the "sixth sense" a pet dog possesses in detecting things that goes bump in the night that their human owners cannot. As of now there are no posters, trailers, or distributor for this film so it might be awhile before anything becomes available. The only tidbits I am going on is the premise and the handful of reviews (which are thus far are leaning on the positive side). Far more than merely a novel idea, Good Boy offers a string of effective scares amidst an intriguing story of ever increasing horror. - THN Leonberg crafts a thoughtful, unnerving, and heartrending portrayal of how utterly terrifying it can be for a dog when his whole world is upended and he’s unable to understand why. - Bloody Disgusting Leonberg shows so much promise, ultimately delivering a horror movie that not only has the scares but also a massive heart. - Collider ![]() |

As far as gimmicks go this is a pretty good one! I'm especially curious how one would even go about giving the audience a satisfying resolution here.

I saw the news on this one too, having something like 1.6 million views of the trailer in only 6 days roughly.
The trailer, is this about a dog that has to protect against burglars? I saw the trailer but didn't fully see what was going on in the darkness. Okay, I see it's some kind of illness the person has. Probably the owner gets very ill. |

I'm excited for this one. I hope the trailer shows in front of The Conjuring: Last Rites at many theaters. That would be great exposure for it. Would love to see this breakout as much as possible. At the moment I think 10 Million would be a great total, but I'd love to see it go higher.

There was a great little script called Bad Boy that topped the Black List back in 2023 that also utilized the dog's POV for a horror movie. In that one, the dog starts to realize his owner is a serial killer, and the dog might be the only chance of rescue for the next victim who is locked up in the basement.
Despite having the attention of Hollywood back in late 2023, they dragged their feet and meanwhile a little indie snuck in and beat them to the punch. There was a Deadline article earlier this year that filming was set to begin in August, but I'm not sure if that ended up happening: https://deadline.com/2025/02/lili-re...fm-1236279194/ |
