I'm in no rush to upgrade my Second Sight BD, that's for sure.

Where did this announcement and info come from? I can't find anything about it other than this thread. I wonder what mikemonello thinks about this.

I’d usually defend 4k to the death but it does seem a bit like overkill here.

Doesn't need a UHD (in my humble opinion).

I second this. The Second Sight edition is the final time I will buy this film.

There's a perfect release of this available right now.

This literally can't be better.

Nothing to upgrade unless they've remastered the film further and plan to do 4K. There's a reason Second Sight skipped doing a 4K so...

It’s for the French market. The Second Sight version isn’t perfect for them as it doesn’t have French subtitles or a French dubbed option.

But for me, I couldn’t be happier with the Second Sight edition.

I was actually just thinking about it while watching the Second Sight disc.
Yeah... someone could make a 4K if they really wanted to boast about it, but what's the point? The Hi8 footage, which is like 75% of the movie, is never going to look better and might actually be worse in 4K. Bonus points if you try and force it into some kind of HDR space.

SS screwed up their blu ray release audio royally, and now won't send me replacement discs under their replacement program. I seriously hope we do see decently mastered uhd discs for the title from some reputable boutique(s) at some point, so I can throw that SS junk in the trash and move onward and upward.
