Damn Fool Idealistc Crusader confirmed its 5.1 track is the same as the '97. Got a copy, tested it, and can confirm that. It's certainly not the same as the 05 SE disc.

Looks like a simple re-press of the '97 disc to me

Which is odd to me. Most studios would try to bury their previous transfers to promote their latest one. It's like they somehow knew people in the future would be more appreciative of certain features.

So yeah, having remuxed the movie with DV and the 70mm 5.1 discreet mix, it's easily the best the movie's ever been and it's a shame a major studio couldn't do that themselves.

They ****ing REPLACED the vast majority of the sound effects for God's sake
AND some have said Tim Burton wasn't even asked or didn't bother with anything related to the films LMAO.

Damn, he kind of sucks. At least James Cameron seems to care about his good films (but in a bad way like a murderer cares about his victims sometimes).

The first two slips were DECENT. I did not like much about them, but I bit and got them because they are two of my favorite films.

But yeah F this company for not doing a single F'ing thing right on these releases for the art. The steels are laughable. The slips on the first two are okay and then not good on the other two.

With great iconic art already there, why even try? IDK man. Must have been some kind of producer or somebody high up who wanted all this shit done.

And someone actually put in effort (pfft) to hack this photoshop pile of poo together.

What city is that? Nolan's Gotham (Chicago or Philly) possibly?

The 2005 release (timed with Batman Begins' DVD release) wasn't bad, given the only issue was really just the metallic font and unnecessary border:

I remember the corresponding UK DVD releases were like an artists' rendition / photoshopped version of just the logos for the 4 films, and the eventual US Blu-ray cover followed suit:

Like the 4K steelbook, this is just a bad representation of the movie with more work being put into making things worse.

At this point I'd take an old DVD (but not the 'snapper' case, that wouldn't work) and cut it to fit a Blu-ray case at least for the front image. My printer wouldn't like me printing out all that black of the original logo poster design.

What is the DD 5.1 mix from / created that is on the 4K?

Was it from an early 5.1 mix or a recent mix?

All four 4Ks of the Burton and Schumacher movies got new mixes with new effects, but the Schumacher movies are waaay harder to tell apart.

Yes, it's a downmix of the same new "Atmos" mix, that's the reason why people are angry in this thread.

They just could have kept the 2005/2009 5.1 mix in there to keep everyone quiet

Technically the "original mix" can be found only on the Laserdisc (1990) and the Original DVD (1997, repressed in 2007)

But the SE DVD/BD mix would have suffied to keep everyone happy

That video convinced me (more) not to upgrade this disk. The colors and the sound mix make me want to rub another man's rhubarb.

What I did was just buy a digital copy for dirt cheap. Even if you don’t normally go for streaming, the advantage for this film is you can watch it on Movies Anywhere with the original sound in 5.1. On my Apple TV, disabling Atmos will also get you the original sound.

As for the colors, I wouldn’t get too troubled by screen comparisons. The 4k IMO annihilates the old over-brightened home video transfers that absolutely didn’t have accurate color-grading.
