Although steel_breeze on here is adamant that his OPPO folds in the enhancement layer when outputting 1080p SDR, but I can't force such a situation on my setup.
Indeed! On my 1080p projector with 4K HDR discs downconverted via my Oppo 203, I do SEEM to be reaping the benefit of the DolbyVision layer. It's particularly evident on such titles as Shout's Halloween and Halloween II. I do not see the badly encoded mush on the former, and I do not see the infamous titty glitch on the latter. And I've looked.

To add to that, it may be that when connected to an actual 1080p SDR setup it's doing something different, whereas I can't make my 4K HDR force the same conditions.

That's a pity. It would be great if it actually used the instructions of the 100 nits trim pass to convert to SDR.
