I like that the official account is very clear about performance.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade launches this winter on Nintendo Switch 2, running at a stable 30 frames per second offering smooth performance and crisp visuals.

In a post on Bluesky, Piscatella confirmed that Switch 2 sales have now surpassed 2 million in the US. Not only that, but the console is currently outpacing the original Switch by 75%. 75%! That's wild. According to Nintendo's most recent financial release, the console surpassed a total of 6 million sales worldwide in the seven weeks following its launch.

Got this e-mail from Super Rare Games today, regarding tariffs impacting shipments to the U.S.

Quote:
You may be aware that the US government is changing the way small imports under $800 are handled from 29th August 2025. As a result, there are new tariff rules on small parcels entering the US from overseas.

Since this was announced a few weeks ago we’re still working through all the options to get your much loved games to you with minimal delay and cost.

We understand that the introduction of tariffs is frustrating, it is for us too! Whilst these changes are unavoidable, we are keen to minimise the cost to you.

Therefore, we are putting a temporary pause on US orders and shipments until we can finalise these plans to ensure they’re the right ones!

We have some great games coming your way for the rest of this year, so look out on socials this week for a sneak peak of what's to come! Don't worry we'll ensure you won't miss out!

We’ll be in touch very soon with more details.

Thanks in advance for your patience and as always for your support.

Many thanks,

Super Rare Games

3/4 of Cyberpunk sales in June were physical.

I'm most likely going to sell my Switch 2. I admit FOMO was a huge reason I purchased it. I have owned every Nintendo system back to GameBoy color at launch. This is the first Nintendo system I regret owning. Donkey Kong was fun, but IMO isn't a system seller. Mario Kart was boring..and the realization there is nothing in the distant future that makes me want to keep it. The digital/fake game cards is just stupid. My OLED Switch is my cutoff point. Oh well.

I would wait until late September before selling your Switch 2, there should be a September direct that will showcase Nintendo's future slate.

It was similarly this quiet during the Switch 1's launch in March 2017, until more was revealed during the June and September directs.

Just finished Star Crossed World. I'd forgotten how good the originals soundtrack is. I used gift credit to buy the dlc but if I'd actually paid the $20 I don't think it's great value for money. The actual dlc content just isn't really substantial.

NateTheHate theorized there would be one planned for sometime in the week of September 10th, so that's probably when it's best to do so.

Console launches tend to be dry on first party releases and the Switch 2 is of no exception.

By the way I finished Star Crossed World as well in under 24 hours and it was a bit of a wild ride I'd say. Still a better value than Jamboree TV but honestly could feel it have a little more on the side. Air Riders is likely the next that will be for me on this console, afterwards it'll be a bit dry on releases.

For the digital/fake cards, you're best to simply read the cases to avoid them. I tend to just play those third-party games on PC where modding support is most easiest to implement.

Default Star Wars Outlaws

Available now for Switch 2. Haven’t seen any reviews yet (I’m sure most ppl know if they like or don’t like this game by now), but this comparison video is really impressive. Doesn’t mention if it is docked or handheld, but it looks and performs pretty close to the Xbox Series S version, it’s probably closer to the Steam Deck version but that’s not included in the video. Lower internal resolution and worse textures, and slower load times than Series S, but equal or better picture thanks to DLSS on NS2 vs FSR 3.x on XS|S. Reflections are different but I wouldn’t say better or worse, there is less movement in the environment so reflections on water look different (but probably won’t notice any of this in while playing). Of course Ubisoft is releasing it on a GKC (no different than the activation coasters they sold for PS5 and Xbox Series X), zero interest in that so maybe I’ll consider a digital version when it gets a discount. At least they are only selling one version and it includes both DLC expansions and some of the cosmetic DLC, and that bundle is less than the equivalent bundle on other platforms right now (maybe they’ll get matching permanent price cuts).

Anyway, upscaled 1080p and a solid 30fps. This and Cyberpunk are good signs for other technically challenging games coming to Switch 2 like FF7R, FF16, AC:Shadows and more.

  • Star Wars Outlaws arrives today on Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing the Snowdrop Engine's great adaptability and the good work of Massive Entertainment.
  • The Switch 2 version has predictable visual cutbacks in general terms, but some of them have been mitigated and resolved magnificently.
  • The most noticeable cutbacks are in the density of NPCs, the level of detail in some scenarios, and certain textures.
  • Overall, the visual differences on Switch 2 are surprisingly few.
  • Its stable 30fps performance sometimes surpasses the Xbox Series S version in terms of stability.
  • Load times on Switch 2 are almost twice as long as on Series S.
  • Star Wars Outlaws is one of the best ports I've seen and one of the most cutting-edge games currently available on Nintendo Switch 2. Highly recommended version.

I did not have Ubisoft putting out a competent port of one of their big games on my bingo card.

From all hands on reports thus far FF7 Remake has landed somewhere in between the PS4 and PS5 versions, which is exactly where the power and feature set of the console should put it.

Developers inability/unwillingness to optimize will certainly catch up quickly, but at least for now the system is getting the quality of 3rd party launches it should (on the whole).

Personally, I’m ready for that September Direct. Give me a look at what is on the docket for Nintendo beyond the next 4 months.

Yeah, nobody wants to give credit to the Xbox Series S, the console that’s been available for the last 5 years that is “between the PS4 and PS5.”

Because then a certain parroted argument would fall to pieces.

Interesting, since NS2 game cards have already been demonstrated as slower than micro SD Express and the internal storage, I wonder if more modern game ports will face similar issues.

I still don’t see any value in GKC or there disc counterparts.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being the case. According to some folks over on Reddit the Switch 2 cards top out at 400MB/s.

Wish Nintendo had made the decision to allow installs, that way developers could just use the cheaper Switch 1 cards if they chose and install like every other system has to do anyway.
