I'm only seeing 1 thread about it on the FAH forum, and no one there is posting in that thread. FAH (Vudu) is very unlikely to request an upgrade unless MGM provides the newer scans. MGM has often been notoriously slow about providing the updated files (e.g. Rocky films). But people actively posted/complained about the Rocky (and other slowly updated) films, and those were HD needing upgrading to UHD (not "already" 4K, albeit UHD+SDR, as with the Bond films). As noted above, no one is posting about it, meaning: There is very likely an unfortunate vicious circle going on. 1. FAH will never willingly upgrade because they rarely have corrected errors in the past (it seems obvious there is some financial angle at play here, even when all they have to do is request the corrected file). 2. Most(?) customers appear not to know that the current 4K versions are half-4K, i.e. SDR color space instead of HDR color space, they just see 4K and think they've got just that or good enough so who cares (i.e. they're not posting/complaining). Based on number 1 above, unless MGM will willingly provide the new files, FAH will NOT ever change it; from their business model, they have provided "4k" for years, end of story, regardless of any improved scans, which are irrelevant due to their policy of rarely or never correcting an error scan (i.e. wrong aspect ratio) until the studio delivers a new file, which has only ever happened when a flim went from HD to UHD (4K). If you have a movie in your library that's HDX, and you redeem a 4K code for that same movie, is it supposed to upgrade to 4K?
I'm trying to do so with Jaws, and keep receiving the message that I already own this movie. Could this just mean that the code (which came in a 4K/BD set) is also for HDX? |

Upgrades with codes are not possible on Vudu directly at the moment. |
