Australia New Australian Blu-ray cases?

Anyone else getting these new Blu-ray cases that have more sharp corners and are more boxy then the normal ones?

I'm not liking these. Especially when my replacement copy of Valkyrie came back with this out of shrink wrap with no digital copy.

I guess on the plus side they are Australian. I also use their security game cases at work.

That's where I got my first one of these too with BTILC. Don't like them that much. The Mummy Trilogy has a 3 disc version of this case also. Anybody noticed the cheap cases for some of the older titles like Hellboy and Underworld? It doesn't have the recessed oval behind the Blu-ray logo and the logo is a screen printed gray rather than the silver.

Definitely prefer the Amaray cases but replacements cost $$$.

It was a few months ago when Sony had some of their titles in the 2 for $50 deal. A heap of those titles came out with those cases then. I bought 20 replacements online to swap them over and to keep some spare for future releases.

hate 'em, so ugly. I preorder exclusively from the US mainly because I hate Aussie blu ray cases.

True, hate all of that "ULTIMATE SOUND, ULTIMATE BULL" stuff, which US blues have less to none of.

And LOVE how slim US ones are. I love stockpiling movies, so it suits me to have them as slim as possible.

While looking around for xmen wolverine I noticed this case again. Weird thing is that the version at big w was the clunky case but the one at sanity was the normal case.

yes they don't looked good as the other(looks like a display case at a store) but your watching the movie not the case. I have bought all region movies and they come in those stupid slim cases, I think they are much worse. It's like your missing half the case.
Is there any pattern as to how many movies have this case or are they all going to have it eventually?

Interesting that you say the slim cases are stupid. I think they are rather sexy looking and most importantly they take up less space on my shelves hence I am able to fit more titles. Each to their own I guess, I thought the Australian and UK FAT cases are ugly.

One good thing about these squarer cases is that they stand up on their own. The slimmer US cases and 'rounder' AUS cases can't do this.

A couple of my latest purchases - Fight Club and Star Trek - have both been housed in the sqaure case.

On a side note, a few of the first US HD DVD releases that came out had little round feet on the bottom of the case, and these discs also stood up on their own, even though they were a slim-line design. But these cases were soon fazed out - only 6 of the 100 or so HD DVDs I won have the feet.

I hate those sharp-edged cases. There are cases with only slightly curved edges and others, the standard type, with bigger curved edges. I prefer the latter.
