After all it is a DISCUSSION thread, so spoilers are expected.

That's how I've always felt... even these past few months with spoiler tags for upcoming episodes. I thought it should have been ok to leave them open, but the tags were established so I just ran with it.
I probably won't see it until Saturday so I'm going to have to resist the temptation of this thread

I'll see it tomorrow after work, I won't be in this thread when I get home until after I see the episode really. I love conjectures and theories and spoilers but in the end I want to see the episode and enjoy it as much as possible.

I think I enjoy Smallville anyway... even when it's a bad episode lol.
But I guess Saturday nights is the only time I'll watch this season. go PSN!

If they introduced him at all, I highly doubt it would be him already as Batman, thats too far fetched to think that would get approved. The only way I see him being approved (and even then it is unlikely to happen) is if it JUST Bruce Wayne, in the same way it is JUST Clark Kent on Smallville and not Superman.
But all of the other Justice Leaguers have costumes and official codenames. The only one that's off a bit is they made Flash be called Impulse, probably for BS legal reasons (not that Impulse isn't a good name as well).

I think the one who hasn't appeared in costume or anything is J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. Well, him and Superman of course, but even he's had a codename (Boyscout? lmao) and a costume (now in this season). It's so hurtful because Bruce Wayne seems to be the number one thing missing from Smallville, and because of this, they've pushed Green Arrow in a much more front-lined direction than I think his character can support well enough. It's so stupidly obvious that Green Arrow is just a stand-in for Batman.

I just don't understand how come Smallville can exist at the same time that they did Superman Returns on the big screen, yet Nolan's Batman films stop Batman from appearing in live action on television.

Different contracts for different characters.

Well the first time all of the others (except for Arrow I think) appeared they weren't Impulse, or Cyborg or Aquaman yet. So it's reasonable to assume Bruce would follow the same trend, show up as Bruce on his way to Batman, and officially become Batman once leaving the show.

Speaking of Manhunter, he needs to come back (with powers) more often

It'd be like Marvel Studios not being able to work out between themselves to have Tony Stark cameo in The Incredible Hulk. DC shouldn't be restrictive over WB like that.

Gimme a red X and a blue cape please. Then again, those trunks... what's the deal with DC characters and silly trunks.

Manhunter did have a costume. As close to one as Smallville let's them anyway. It was that long purple coat (I believe that was a trench coat too) with a yellow shirt underneath.
And in all fairness to Green Arrow, he *is* going to have his own live action movie in the near future...
battling some of Batman's villians from an Arkham escape

The latest I read is that they have changed the story and the rewrite does not include Green Arrow as the character. They will still make a Super Max movie but without Green Arrow. I will try to find the source and post shortly.

More details. Apparently, there is some confusion as to what Super Max will be about. At first it sounded like the screenplay had been completely reworked into some supernatural prison movie, But now, it sounds like there are two screenplays sharing the same name???? So when Super Max is being discussed, it's unclear as to which one is being referred to. At any rate, here is some more details on this as recent as 9/9/09 here:

you know that's pretty bad when you get kicked out of your own hero movie! Yeah, I had heard about it a few months ago. Didn't feel I should follow it though lol, so that makes sense

Not entirely the same thing.

It's basically that DC sells the rights to the producers who then only have the option of putting the movie out via Warner.

It's more akin to the situation of X-men and the Avengers. Since Fox holds the rights to the X-men in movies, you can't have Wolverine show up in the Avengers even though Marvel holds the rights to the characters as a whole.

That's ok... I never liked the idea of Batman villains appearing in a Green Arrow movie. The Riddler is one thing, but Joker? Really? And anyway, isn't the jail where Batman's non-insane enemies holed up called Blackgate? Either way, both Joker and Riddler are insane and worthy of locking up in Arkham.

It's not like X-men and Avengers because Fox and Marvel are WHOLLY SEPARATE. Fox has the rights for X-men, Marvel has the rights for Avengers. They are separate and aren't likely to easily work together.

On the other hand, Warner Bros. owns the rights to Batman in live action film. And Warner Bros. owns the rights to Superman in live action television.

Warner Bros = Warner Bros.

If they wanted to, any legal hurdles could easily be broken down as it's all on the inside, all within a single company. The film department of WB would need to work with the TV department of WB and they might need to work with the DC comics department of WB. But it's all WB. They should be able to play nice.

On the other hand, if they couldn't even work things out between TV and Movies with the same character - Superman, I would not be surprised if Batman is a no show in Smallville. Sucks!
