Default Is it me or this place starting seem like it's the IMDB boards?

Seriously, there's been a lot bashing going on in the Blu-Ray Releases forums. It's really starting to seem like the IMDB. I mean we should be happy that we are getting any of these movies at all on Blu-Ray. It seems like people are so ungrateful to have a certain title on Blu-Ray. I am always trying to see the positive to criticisms but it's just a big bash fest now.

Some people focus on the negatives and hold on them. I find people here enjoy bashing the quality of transfers, directors, studios, cases, opinions of others, Christian Bale's voice, Hollywood and anything and everything else.

Some of these are justifiable, like Uwe Boll, Lindsay Lohan, or 20th Century Fox. But if I state that if the elements are not good on a film transfer, I always hear the same act of how Warner Bros cleaned up Robin Hood and Wizard of Oz; It's like, "I'm sorry, this isn't Warner Bros".

So, too much bashing going on here. But if it is justifiable bashing, it is ok. Got it. So what are you upset with?

not sure what you are saying, or who you are quoting, and I have not seen either so don't know if they look good or bad, but Robin Hood and Wizard of Oz are WB. Ted Turner bought MGM in 1986, but soon after was forced to sell it back in pieces (sold the lots, sold the distribution rightsand more importantly sold the trademarks-i.e. MGM was reborn) but kept most of the pre-1986 catalogue. In 1996 WB bought TBS (Turner Broadcasting System) and with it aquired those catalogue titles.

so old MGM -> WB

on the other hand in 1986 the MGM trademark was sold, that new MGM studio continued to make movies, bought other sytudios , and grew a bit, that new MGM is the one that Fox is distributing.

Wizard of Oz was produced by MGM (and so has the MGM logo), but it has nothing to do with the new MGM and Fox, but is owned by Turner entertainment which is owned by WB

Not even going to dignify this post with a proper response...

Orlando, I honestly don't see what you're referring to, because it seems like you're lumping all the negativity into one broad stroke . I don't think it makes sense to expect everyone to love every blu-ray release that comes out (not that you're saying that), and for all of the negative attitudes, I am seeing just as many positives. As technology moves forward, people are expecting the best and when that "doesn't happen" (i.e. in the eyes of the beholder), opinions will be expressed. On the same token, when movies have great releases, opinions will be expressed. Either way, boards do change over time...nothing stays the same forever...and that's why forums have moderators to keep things from getting too out of control.

I heard a rumor that it's going to have an 'ultra fan of Maze of Thought' edition.

Something like 17 layers of pure grain on your screen.

You can't compare Blu-ray.com with the IMDB site. Those boards are completely ridiculous. Ya...it gets a little crazy here now and then but the mods do a good job at keeping everything clean.

Our board is becoming more and more popular, and, as such, it's inevitable that we will get our share of new members from sites who's tone of discussion is not nearly as congenial as it is on here. Hopefully, after a few posts, they'll come to recognize that Blu-ray.com has more to offer and that there is, in fact, a community here that enjoys the cameradie of its members.

This is NOT is *****ing site, this site is about getting together and having fun.

I have to agree with you. Plus these boards are way more user friendly. I am not huge poster on here since I joined a year and a half ago, but this is by far one of the best forums I have ever used. There are a lot of members here who I think of as almost friends because I have read so many of their posts, even though I do not always agree with their opinions. These boards are civil most of the time, sometimes they can get out of hand but that happens with growth. I hope to be posting on here for a long time to come.
