As with all the firmware updates, I'd like to know from owners if 2.0 fixes the pausing problem.

Thats a good question... I had a huge pause during the beginning of Speed, so I might chuck it on and see if it pauses again.

since when are they specific? all companies have it spelled out like that. only one that was pretty specific was the amazon on demand function. divx playback isnt going to happen either. if you wanted divx support then you should have bought the 80 model.

Yea set the blueray player to both 1080I/P and came out with same results.
Havent tried with a different player yet no, dont have any availible for me atm but will keep that in mind tho.
Lets say that it is the panasonic/samsung compatability issue, this could be fixed thru a firmware update or am i wrong?
Firmware upgrade could fix this problem. It is the best to upgrade to the latest and most reliable firmware version. Try to find a ps3 to test the TV set. ps3 is the best for compatibility, IMO.

My PS3 died last week, and I'm really considering buying this player.

Obviously, the most important thing for me is video playback. But BD-Live is also important to me. Does this player have any problems with BD-Live?

If video playback is important, I'm not sure that you should consider this player while the random freezing problem is still not fixed.

That being said, professional and user reviews rave about the image quality produced by the player and I've never heard of a BD-Live problem with it. If you don't mind the occasional, random 5 to 10 second freeze during playback, this is probably the player for you.

^ Yuck, 5-10 second freeze? Is everyone having this issue?

I just assumed BD players had improved since I bought my PS3 last year. It seems that you still have a to buy a BD player and say "wow, I hope it actually plays movies."

No. It's random. Some people have freezes fairly often, others never have them.

Some owners have posted that they've never had a freeze, but it seems that most who have posted about the player here and at avsforum have experienced it at least once. If you look back in this thread you'll see some examples. Enough people have testified to it that I personally wouldn't take the gamble. It's a problem that Panasonic has acknowledged and they are supposedly working on a fix, but intermittent issues like this are notoriously difficult to resolve, since they're not consistently repeatable.

thanks for that important update. it seems that it needs more then just a firmware update.

Panasonic supplied me with a new power cord & they rewired the power lines inside of the unit. Also gave it a new firmware update as well as a software update. I strongly advise everyone of you to send it to Panasonic directly! Its under warranty for 1 year after date of purchase . Therefore EVERYONE is covered since this model has not even been out for a year yet.

What's the firmware version currently installed in your player now?

So did Panasonic tell you that they definitively discovered the cause of the freezing issue and addressed it?

if they had a definitive answer, I would have heard about it. This may be something they're trying, but it's a software issue, not a hardware one.

Not sure if I missed it, but can you be more specific about your freezing issue? Only certain BD, what are the symptoms or remedy you've taken prior to sending it back. Wondering the severity of the situation and if it's worth sending it back and not getting in back for 3 months.

I'm sure that Panasonic knows what the problem is. The problem might be that they haven't been able to come up with a fix via a firmware update. Chris Boylan from Big Picture Big Sound, has commented in the AVS Forums that Panasonic is aware of the issue but apparently "THEY ARE HOPING TO FIX THE PROBLEM VIA FIRMWARE" He also mentions that he knows a "little" more that he can comment on and that the chances of Panasonic releasing a firmware fix are 50/50.....For those of you who doesn't know Chris, he is the editor of Big Picture Big Sound and he has contacts in Panasonic and speak to them sometimes to get updates.

I'm still confused. How do you know yours is fixed when the issue occurs randomly? What test did you do to confirm it, if they didn't even explain to you what the root of the problem is?
