Just figured someone would have had something to say about it.

Yes i am a fan of DLP. Do i own a plasma and lcd tv as well. Yes. I guess i figured that i could get some intelligent discussion going about what seems to be one of the most commented "downfalls" of DLP on this message board.

Then i get "Happy?" back

LOL!! No, as you can see in my sig i'm the proud owner of a very fine DLP. I just knew that a certain member would chime in with his hate. Look in the display forum under DLP. There's a thread called "why do some think dlp is a dead tech?" There's plenty of discussion and thread crapping going on there.

Ok, i'll play along. Even as a proud owner i have a few small gripes, but since my LED was the last gen that samsung released, my gripes might be different from others.

1) is the silk screen effect. It's not a deal breaker and i've been able to "tame" it by calibration, but on very bright whites it does show itself now and again.
2) people complain about geometry on these sets and with a grid up on the screen it is a bit off in one corner, but when i'm watching tv it can't be noticed on 99.9% of the material so it's a non-factor to me. Others over at avsforum seem to be obsessed with this idea, but if you never put the grid up you'd probably never notice.

LOL!! honestly that's my only gripe. I do notice a difference in brightness with the vertical viewing angle, but seated it's perfect and since i don't watch tv standing up it's no big deal. If i am standing up, i'm probably 20' away in the kitchen and from back there it looks great.
Mine turns on fast, it's under 12" thin, it's light, it uses hardly any power, the horizontal viewing angles are superb, the picture is great, and for $999 i got a 61" 1080p tv.
What a country!!

Sorry guess i dont usually click on the profiles very much.

My bad

Sarcasm is soooo hard to determine here in black and white text

When i went to school for electronic repair and learned how dlp actually worked i was sold.

I do like the other technologies but im a big bang for your buck guy.

Im just disappointed that i purchased mine when i did. 3 months after i bought mine the LEDs were the same price i paid. Oh well thats how it happens i guess.
