I'm not real familiar with the XBR7, but Sony uses Motionflow technology. OP - when you hooked the PS3 up to the TV directly (bypassing the AVR), did you plug it into the same HDMI port, or did you plug it into a different HDMI port? I wonder if the port connected to your AVR has the Motionflow turned on High. If so, try setting it to Standard (or the lowest setting) to see if that gives you the desired result. I experienced a similar situation on my KDL-52W model, and adjusting the Motionflow took care of it for me.

Passthrough on the AVR shouldn't have any effect on the audio portion of the feed, it just tells the receiver to not convert the video to anything else.

Also there is only on English result when I google "Sony DS2400ES" so I can't find any info on it.

I may be way off base here, but I thought certain receivers that cannot decode the audio simply pass the signal through to the TV (hence the word passthrough). People can use it as a sort of HDMI switcher, but it doesn't allow them to utilize TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, and Uncompressed PCM. If the OP forces the receiver into passthrough, how can it not impact the audio?

Edit: Based on the information provided in the OP, I really think this is an issue with Sony's Motionflow (TV - not AVR). I had the same issue with my Sony 120 Hz; I suspect the 240 Hz only makes it more noticeable - and it was very noticeable on my model. I recommend the OP adjust the settings with the Motionflow (as I stated in a previous post) before adjusting settings in the AVR. Moving it from High to Standard for Blu-ray playback solved my issue.

I believe the video and audio options will be separate from one another, meaning the AVR will process the audio and passthrough the video without touching it (IE no upconversion). Of course I may be off base as well, lol.

I think you are right in your solution being related to the motion features on the television though, and 10 to 1 he plugged it into a different HDMI port.

Funny how the OP joined yesterday, started a thread, and hasn't been back to review our advice. I'm curious to know if he solved it. Such is the case, I guess.

And I'm with you on this one...I say 20 to 1 he plugged it into a different port.
