But it's your thread and your rules so I will say American History X but that movie is scary

It's a bit tough to know exactly what Czar is asking for here, as street gangs are an integral component of organized crime, generally, and the term "gang" itself suggests some degree of organization, inherently. Also, I am assuming that Czar uses the term "urban" in its contemporary, de facto, seemingly-politically correct role as a racial/generational moniker. Thus, it would seem that Czar is looking specifically to films with highlight the street-by-street turf battles waged by young "gangstas" and less so on the actual sources of the revenue/supply chains which perpetuate the necessity for the young boots on the ground.

As such, my favorite film would be 1994's Fresh.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109842/

While the film does follow a character who moves back and forth a bit from the street-level thuggery to the more deliberate and entrepreneurial elements of the drug trade, the "urban" element, as it were, is quite the focus.

Good movie, but I would call that organized crime as well as it is about to heavy dealers. Basically I wanted as u said street gang or urban type feel. Fresh is more of drug war and two cats tryin to run the city in the drugging business if u will. I would list that on my organized list though, but good flick nonetheless. Got Em!!

American History X and Boyz in the Hood are classics of the "genre", but no love for Colors is surprising.

I'm not sure if Clockers falls under your description, but I consider it the best.

Juice is my favorite

I also enjoyed Belly, but I may be the only one.

My least favorite would be...does anything that Master P made count?

Clockers & Juice are great films! Didnt care for Belly as nas was garbage but DMX did a good job. But to me Belly & Clockers focused more on drugs and not the street gang or plain & simple hood life mentality of setrippin etc...But again nice calls and I guess if I expanded they could count but I tried to draw a thin line here! Oh as for master P. I loved a film he made called Lockdown! Very independent so alot of people have not seen it but easily his best film. i recommend u check it out! Got Em!!

Yeah, Nas is horrible in Belly. What I like about Belly was solely the visuals. I do think that the soundtrack is far better than the movie, but I was in highschool when Belly came out and it was the culture I was consumed in. Not drugs, but Hip-Hop.

You're right, Clockers mainly focuses on the drugs.

Juice, again because of my childhood, is still one of my personal favorites. The soundtrack and the opening of that movie with Eric B. and Rakim bumping through the spreakers still makes me smile. Wait...it was Eric B. and Rakim right? I haven't seen it in a long time.
