Penny Arcade Sums Up Cost Differences

Penny Arcade has an interesting commentary on the shift of the discussion back to the PS3 being a good machine. One of the things that's helping that is the "free" aspect of the online gaming as it's now understood. That, as Tycho says, is regardless of how good the offering is. Yet hey manages to break it down to an interesting small table:

Console life cycle = 4 years
1 year Xbox Live service - ~$50
4 x 50 = $200, or the Price Difference Between the 360 and the PS3.

I dont think many peole will put money on this.
The great thing was that breaking it up from the main console so not to blame them if you get fooled to buy it

I agree with this. It would have to be part of the system itself.

External add-ons suck. No point at all in purchasing unless they sell it for under $100.

I was in my EB the other day and the manager and I were chit chatting and he actually made mention of this thing...and kind of laughed.

I asked him what was funny and he said:

"No one knows about this thing and no one cares. I'll be surprised if I sell more than a couple of these by Christmas time."

thats what ive been saying all along. Add ons sucks. they simply never catch on.
