BTW, if the TF2 SteelBook was signed by Bay, we'd sell it at 2x the amount.

i dont see why you new guys are bashing this guy for trying to make a profit on the steelbooks....
he clearly says he's looking to make a profit... if u guys dont like it dont buy from him...
so what? he IS taking the time out to drive for hours and hours to get some steelbooks to sell them in a place they aren't available...

thats what most members on here are doing, sure they're helping forum members get copies at almost cost, but they're also selling some on ebay for a profit.. its not "webmaster@michaelbay"s fault that those who are selling for a profit aren't maximizing their gains (it doesnt make sense to me why they wont try for that either)

heck... i havent read any of u bashing the guys selling Rambo steelbooks for hundreds and hundreds... all thats been said about them are "omg, are they gonna sell?" or "omg who would buy that?" and then subsequently you read of ppl buying copies.. even members on here

i kind of ranted off abit too much... but it just seems really lame the bashing, well not so much the bashing... becuase i hate people who go in and buy up all the copies at once...(regardless of their reasons) but the double standard.. its fine for Person A to profit and Person B.. but not Person C (who's trying to maximize gains)

there's no difference with a small markup and a big markup as long as there are customers.. hell those marking up small amounts would increase the markup if they were sure they could sell off their stock (rambo.etc), but most aren't certain and they don't want to test the waters

I might have read something into what you said that was not there. No harm and I apologize if I did. If he wants to take the time to drive that far and if someone wants to pay for him to do it I see nothing wrong with that. I am sure there will be higher prices on ebay. I miss the days when every store got the very same version so that I would not have to track down who has what and why it is different than the others.

X400 - Fundamentally, I have no problems with anything you have stated.

However, I did not see you address this in your thought process.

If one of us worked for Industrial Light & Magic, Paramount, Hasbro, or MICHAEL BAY....one could argue that in a way, profits from Transformers 2 paid our salaries. Not to say that none of these companies would not exist if TF2 wasn't made, but let's just say that some $$ from that movie would indirectly keep us afloat.

Second, one could also state that since you are an employee of ILM, Paramount, Hasbro or MICHAEL BAY, you may be an authority on that companies product, marketing strategy, or subject matter. In addition, people may look to you and naturally assume that when you ask $125 for a steelbook, that is a fair and reasonable price.

Third, he's not selling any other steelbooks - only TF2.

Fourth, he had to explicitly state the below in his forum post at s4te. That is the OFFICIAL MICHAEL BAY forum. Note the bold - why say that UNLESS there would be some confusion?

Quote:
I just got word that the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray SteelBook (below) will only be available in Canada via Future Shop (the DVD SteelBook will be available in the US via Fye). And Future Shop doesn't ship abroad.

So I'm in the process–personally–of getting some copies and shipping them to those that are interested. I am personally selling them (these WILL NOT be autographed by anyone and proceeds will not be going to charity).*

So, if you're interested in reserving a copy, I will selling them here.

http://www.shootfortheedit.com/site/...rotf-imax.html

I will stop taking orders until October 16. Expect 2-4 weeks for delivery.

Also, I will be personally taking orders for Transformers Revenge of The Fallen Blu-Ray IMAX (2-disc) for those that desire the Imax version but have no access to Walmart abroad.

*Prices are subject to change without notice.
Fifth - Is there any need to state that if MB signed them you could get TWICE as much? Really?

Sixth - If you, the seller, wanted to do this on your OWN TIME, then you do NOT use your position as webmaster to post what in essence is a trade thread on the official MB forum. Which is used to talk about all things Michael Bay, which in addition to that, you are also the ADMIN for.

If I were to go over there and post a message about how I would sell TF2 for $100, one could make the leap that it might be quickly deleted by the ADMIN.

And finally - I'll leave you with this hypothetical - if you were a judge, and a case came before you that involved a company you owned stock in, should you continue with presiding over it?

Do you see the problem here? Hmmmmm?

No worries, all is good

I guess I went off a bit because of some of the things that are already being discussed here.

If the guy wants to go for a drive and buy and bunch and sell them for a ridiculious profit, all the power to him, it is a free country as they say. My big issue is similar to what apsmith21 stated above, the seller is using his supposed position and Michael Bay relationship to try to make he sales more appealing and thereby make more profit.

Nothing he has done couldn't be done by one of us given a little time and knowledge and he has presented nothing to actually prove his claims of working with Michael Bay, either directly or indirectly. Nowhere have I seen "Hi, I am Michael Bay and I appoved this message"

time for

guys I am so sorry if this has been posted already, I can't read the whole thread because I have a bad migrane right now. I Read about the first two pages and just pre-ordered the steelbook. Now I have a big concern with the way this is going to go down.

So from what I understand you can't just go into the store and buy the steelbook right? (sorry if this is wrong, again I haven't read the whole thread).

But if you walk into the store and buy the blu ray version you get the steel book with it at checkout.?

If this is correct than how the crap are they going to have that many steelbooks to accompany every blu ray purchase, when the statement from the futureshop employee stated that stock is already low so they can't pair it together on the shelf or even for a seperate purchase as just a steel book.?

I just paid 38 dollars and some odd cents after taxes and shipping for this deal. If they run out of steelbooks early on and don't ship it to me I will lose it. Futureshop is notorious for pre-selling stuff online and than on release day listing it as out of stock therefore it won't ship until it's in stock(which by that time the steels could be history). This has happened to me about 3 times. Obviously I will be hitting the store also to make sure I snag one but I have a feeling this could get very messy. I mean how many people are going to walk into Futureshop that don't even know about steelbooks to get that movie on release day, and they will be handed a steelbook automatically. These are going to run out like hot cakes, lol I can see it now. Didn't the first disc smash records for sales. This one is going to be even bigger.

Anyways like I said I haven't read the whole thread so take this with a grain of salt, but the writing is on the wall and I can really see people who are after the steelbook getting screwed. Thanks

Anyone know.. if the IMAX version will be region free?

The steelbook will come shrink wrapped next to the regular case.

I know we're supposed to keep group buy talk out of here, but I can't find any threads in the trade forums, could someone point me in the direction of one, IF there's even one going on? Thanks.

I think you can safely say that it will be like Watchmen, no issue there as it's a new release.

The only worry is that the steelbook and blu come packaged together, so if someone is just looking for the blu on release day, they may pick up the steelbook too and not really care about it.

I keep thinking about how many TF1 sold on release day.

No official word yet, but a poster here says that Paramount is not releasing the IMAX version in Canada. So that would mean the Steelbook does not contain it. Oh well. I would gladly take the IMAX version over the Steelbook based on this news. Anyone want to pre-trade?

Apart from the Imax, is there anything else that is different between the US and Canadian versions?
