I'm sure they will come. The first 12 seasons have all been good sellers, so Fox has plenty motivation to release them. And it's not like we're overdue on a new season - Season 12 just came out in late August, and there's (unfortunately) always 6 months to a year between season releases.

I think they're just going to do 20 on BD now to capitalize on interest and perhaps the novelty of TV on BD. If they didn't release 20 until after 13-19 came out, they wouldn't be doing their first Simpsons season BD release until sometime around 2014-2015 or so. By then, a BD release will be nothing special - just expected. Doing it now might get people's attention a bit more.

I understand the reasoning. It's just that this wasn't expected.

Of course, I'm buying all of them.

Here is the cover

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Sim...D-Blu-ray/1279

I like it, hopefully Fox finally get some common sense and stop using the same box-format as Season 11 and 12 on DVD. Worst packaging ever.

I couldn't agree this more. The series has gone downhill so much it's sad. It's definitely heyday was when Conan and that group were writing episodes. I can't even bear to watch the show now.

In fact, I think in consistency over the length of its run, South Park has now surpassed the Simpsons, and I would have never imagined saying that 8 or 9 years ago.

I like the artwork. For the first time I actually hope they keep the box the same size as the dvd ones. It would prefer them to match my current 12 seasons on dvd .

But if it's shorter that's o.k. too.

Not quite sure i'm digging the mary tyler moore theme they got going on there

Anybody have another link to the coverart?

Edit - Found it here, looks like FOX is releasing this to tie in with the year long 20th anniversary (which actually ends in Jan, so we should see this before then)

It will probably be released in Dec. or sometime in January.

Looking forward to getting this.

Simpsons on FOX HD looks awesome, this will probably look about the same, so definitely getting this.

It looks like the cover art or should I say case sizes will be the same with DVD and BD which is kinda cool so they can line up the same alongside previous DVD seasons. I like how they don't have to scream it is a BD release... just a simple logo at the top. Classy.

Just hope the packaging is better than the last to seasons on DVD... very shoddy packaging.

My Simpsons collection stopped at Season 11, I'm not sure if I will continue it or not. Kind of lost the passion for it. I mean, I have 9 more seasons in standard def to get through before I hit the good stuff mid-season-twenty? Ugh, I dunno...

Those yellow people from Springfield have been on the air for over a fifth of a century! Quite a feat if you ask me!

It's wierd to think that the Simpsons has been on the air longer during my life than it hasn't, about 2/3 of my life thus far.

I may pick this up on blu, but Im still torn. Since it's the first season that was (at least partially) HD, I would like to have it on blu, even though I dont currently own any other seasons right now. Hopefully the standard aspect ratio episodes will be sideboxed in something clever ala Disney's standard aspect ratio movies.

Even though I don't find it quite as funny anymore this is definitely a buy for me! I have 1-11 on dvd and can't wait to see it in HD

Actually it's much longer, over 2 decades to be exact (they preimiered in 1987)...I'm thinking you meant over a fifth of a century?

What I wanna know is when are we getting another movie? FOX signed all involved for 2 more movies and based on the box office of the 2007 film you'd think everyone involved would be eager to do another (although they are very tight lipped so perhaps production has started, we just don't know about it yet)

Seeing as the world is going to end in 2012, it would be nice to get another Simpsons movie before then

I would love to have these on Blu-Ray from a quality aspect but I watch my Simspon DVDs all the time on different TVs, so I gotta stick with DVD versions until I have multiple HDTVs and Blu-Ray players.

Yeah, I agree. Honestly, for any of the episodes in any of the seasons prior to Season 20, I can't see Blu-Ray being that great of a benefit quality-wise (even this first 9 or 10 episodes of Season 20 are in the same boat as the previous seasons, but it would be pointless to split the season up to only include the HD episodes).

Sure, they could probably fit more episodes on a disc, and there might be a little less compression, but the differences will likely be minimal at best.

I honestly can't see myself rebuying all of the previous seasons (at what would likely end up being ~$40 each) for what at best would be a minimal PQ improvement, and to maybe not have to change discs quite as often while watching.

I think some people get a little over-zelous about the theoretical prospect of entire series of old, non-HD TV shows coming to Blu-Ray.

I will buy the BD release as long as the case size for it matches the size of the previous DVD season releases. Otherwise it will look awkward, but I don't need the previous seasons in HD, they were not done in HD so I can live besides it has taken them this long to release 12 Seasons on DVD I won't be waiting for them again on BD... Going forward BD would be a decent option though.

Time will tell who knows.

As long as the spine matches the previously released DVDs then I couldn't care less how big the packaging is. Of course I want it to match, but if it doesn't I'm not going to hold out on buying it, it's not like they would redesign a new package just for your tastes. Also, why wouldn't you go ahead and buy the blu over the DVD? I can understand that you want to watch it on multiple Tvs so you would need it on DVD (cuz not everyone has a blu player in every room) etc., but other than that I don't understand why some of you would want to buy the obsolete DVD because the flippin' packaging on the blu-ray isn't as tall?! That sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Am I one of the few people in these forums that doesn't let packaging get in my way of buying a blu-ray?
