Default Star Wars In Concert

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but have any of you seen the special they've been showing on PBS about the Star Wars In Concert tour? It looks pretty great and there is some cool stuff in this special too. They talk about how the tour will feature the first truly HD versions of the films seen and they use some clips in the special that look great. They also briefly mention that they are replacing the puppet Yoda in Ep. 1 with a new CG Yoda for future releases. They've been showing it fairly often on the local Chicago PBS station here. I'm sure you can catch soon if you haven't already.

Actually, I bought my tickets for the local showing the day they went on sale. Should be awesome to hear the music live. They also have a ton of actual movie props showcased. They are finally doing an American tour, so I can't wait to see it.

My friend and I are going as well in November. My friend's into orchestra music and I love the music too, but I am looking forward to the HD display as well as I hear they are bringing props from the movies from Lucas' Skywalker Ranch. So looking forward to it.

I don't understand people going to concerts just to hear live music with images a movie, I'm sure there are some people have gone to the LOTR one's too! But there are people like to waste their $! Just wait for the blu's of SW to come out, whenever and if ever that happpens!

There are a lot of people who enjoy "live music."

As long as they don't ask you to pay for it, what does it matter? I am sure there are a lot of things you do that would seem very weird to a lot of people and would look to them like a waste of money.

Oh - I'd love to see this. But I'm away when it comes to my town. I love the SW music - to see it live with the movie images would be awesome!

Why not just buy the soundtrack CD's of Star Wars films, there ARE some great ones out there by the John Williams Orchestra!

I have the soundtracks, all of them but you have to admit that there is nothing like hearing the orchestra live in a music hall, that beat's any CD you can ever own no matter how high end your sound system is. I would surely go to this if it came here.

+1, it is impossible to beat the experience of being there to hear/see the symphony playing your favorite pieces.

Would you go to one of those LOTR ones as well?

Do you have any idea what these concerts are like? Or are you just assuming its just music being played?

Depends on who the conductor was.

If you like video games at all, I'd certainly suggest checking out Video Games Live as well.

Actually, my wife and I saw this last week in Phoenix. Live orchestra, live choir, excellent live narration by Anthony Daniels. The montage of scenes that were shown during the music was well done. There were lasers and pyrotechnics. Overall, well worth the price if you enjoy Star Wars....and the music AND enjoy live symphony music.

As to the movie scenes, the ones from Ep. 1-3 were amazingly clear and bright on the huge screen above the orchestra. The ones from Ep. 4-6 were not quite as good; however, amazing for the age of the films.

Not perfect; however, I'd sure give it a solid B+. The interweaving of all six stories in the various montage film clips was well done and added to my overall enjoyment of the films. It made me want to go back and watch them all again....and keep wishing for an ultimate BLU edition of all six.

I don't get what your problem is here....why does it bother you that some people like going to hear live film music? I love doing it, because I think it's MUCH more powerful to hear/witness a live orchestra instead of just sitting in my living room and listening to it through speakers

they came to Atlanta several years ago and I missed it because I had too much school work at the time, I was sooo upset for a long time afterwards. Talk about getting goosebumps at a performance, that would be one of them

I mentioned this before but the best gift my wife ever got me (besides my Son) were tickets to go see John Williams live at the Hollywood Bowl. We're talking goosebumps for 2 solid hours.
