Default Now that this decade is almost over...

What did you guys think of the past 10 years of movies? I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as the 90s but still very good, with comic book and action movies realizing previously unreached levels of excellence and entertainment.

I definitely agree with the comic book bit. Those movies were surprisingly better than the adaptations seen in the past.

On the whole, however, the 90's was better IMHO

I just remember comic book movies, remakes, and District 9.

Oh, and we had a small resurgence of musicals.

I thought this decade absolutely buried the nineties. In my opinion, the nineties were the worst, thinnest decade of film history. You've really got to be focusing on the negative to see this last decade as one lacking imagination... the tool of CGI set imaginations free, now they do things for $100million that they couldn't do for a billion before, unless they were willing to accept really bad animation and video compositing and editing.

I'm with you! Some of those are my guilty pleasures of this decade. I just wonder if I'm getting a little old for my own good. I'd rather see more of the good old-fashioned stunts and set pieces and a little less CGI. A prime example was the 007 flick Die Another Day. I realize Pierce was getting up there in years, but I felt like we really took a leap backwards in that shot where he was snowboarding down the mountain (kinda reminds me of the surfer flicks of the 60's with Annette Funicello standing in front of a screen and pretending to be surfing!).
