Like any computer....... it would depend upon what you want to be able to do with it.

4 years is a life time in computer terms and what you buy now at mid-high to very high in terms of production would be reduced to average in that amount of time.

I know they change like crazy but a 1gb card in a laptop now that's $1000 seems lile it will hold it's own. Nut how much better is the processor in the Dell??

And I will be using it for daily use , school, media videos music etc , I have a few games ( crysis I bought for a test on my old laptop.... It barely played it lol. It was a geforce go 7600 ( 256 mb) )

and I will be using my amsung ln52a750 as a monitor quite a bit

so I know the gpu in the asus is way better , nut is there a big dif. In the CPU?

yeah I'd go with the bit more expensive one especially if your planning on using it for more then 2-3 years.

Unless you are gaming or doing CAD CPU will be more important. That includes watching mp4 movies and such. Those are a lot heavier on CPU. Latest and greatest video cards do have some video decoding, but I suspect they will be longer than your laptop...

Thanks guys. There the same price. And it is a "no lemon" part of my warranty cuz my old laptop got fixed 3 times in a year.

So they said pick something comparable to what yours was and we wil see if we can do it. Well they said they would do both. So then it was all my choice.

So I picked the Dell without thinking or research. And the asus actually had a few more things I liked after reviewing them

4 USB instead of 2

backlit keyboard

number pad

dual layer drive 7200 rpm

Better vid card.

Just seems like the better buy. But the Dell was really pushed on me. Just for the fact I didn't game a ton and that video card was overkill for me.
