What's cool about this is there's more life in this rumor thread than there's been over here in a month. We should just keep this going infinitely whether or not the rumor pans out or not - as an inside joke. Also, if it is fake, the OP will have no fire because he's just given us a hilarious forum to just post for posting's sake.

Let me put this as plain and simple as I can. This is a prank . . a hoax. How do I know? Because the person who started it sent me a PM telling me. I promised not to reveal his real screen name.(he opened that account on BD.com for the strick purpose of starting the rumor) We had about a dozen PM's between us discussing what he did and why he did it.

Why me? Because he felt as one of the more ardent HD DVD supporters, I would get a kick out of what he did.

Why hasn't a press release deny-ed it yet?

Seems easy enough to issue a simple deny statement.

I think the chance of this being true are low given the stealthy unknown poster using a public computer but whist all the boards go nuts why didn't anyone in the know just simply come forth and deny it?

Either way, I think it's over and it's just about having something to point too to try to show the clue-less that don't realize it was over on Nov 17, 2006.
