One poster in here has some thing right. There going to get a ton of returns on the 2 disc special Ed... I returned two of them becaue of the disc coming loose and scratching them. I finally settled for standard version, which plays fine. The PQ was decent, but no where near Heavenly Sword!

Halo, is marketed very well and way over hyped and thats why it sells so well. Ps3 might not get those kind of numbers with one game but they will with alot of games together thats why PS2 still beats out every console today in sales and thats why ps3 will do the same thing down the road.

Isn't supermarioworld SNES still the best selling video game of all time

actually it looks like, that game had 20 million,

Supermario Bros at 40 million and Tetris Game Boy at 33.6 mil.

It is not the marketing - this game sells well because a lot of people enjoy playing it. If people didn't like the first Halo, the second would not have sold well - regardless of marketing. And if people didn't like the first two, then the third would not be selling so well.

Halo is selling because people like the series. Period.

The marketing helps get people excited about it, and probably helps with initial sales and pre-orders. My only point was that this isn't a new game - the series has been around for several years. If people didn't like the previous Halos, then marketing would not help much.

I personally think all 3 Halos are great games and I don't understand all the apparent hatred around here for the series. Just because it is MS? Visit most other forums, and the general opinion is that it is a fun game and worth the purchase - much different then the opinions here.

The original Halo had zip in terms of marketing and look how well it did. I think though marketing has helped the 2 and 3. GREAT GAME I agree.

not everyone hates halo around, i dont hate i only liked the 1st one but that was it and yes i do agree its not a new game etc kinda like when the new MGS series comes out ppl will buy it just like ppl bought halo 3 bc they liked it. etc. The only point im makin is that Halo pretty much got XBOX off the ground so this is all they have IMO.

The Halo games sell extremely well because it is a great game that is a blast to play. I understand it is not everyones cup of tea, but I know I am having a great time playing it.

There are a lot of games I don't like, but I don't get upset if they happen to sell a lot of copies.

I agree with everything you said. I don't understand what's with all the hate either. The main factor for any game is the FUN Factor. How much do you enjoying playing it. Everyone has different opinions on what FUN is for them.

170 million is what the article says.....not 1.7 million

1.7 million= 1,700,000
170 million= 170,000,000

It's for First day sells only.

Yes, it's crazy how many people are playing and paying for World of Warcraft. It's what $15 a month? Times that with 8 million = $120 million a month.
How much money does it cost to run the game for a month?

Personally I like the idea behind MRPG, I just refuse to spend $120 to $180 a year just to play a game I had to buy.
