Now that I've seen the pix (I thought it was weird that the pix were gone), I have a question for you. Have you tried doing 1:1 pixel mapping on the monitor for the PS3? I ask because the video looks vertically stretched.

JTK, the model is w2408. The link is in the post.

Yeah I have tried it. I end up with a 4x6 image in the middle of the screen. Not sure why or what the deal is, but it's not right or I am missing something. I will take a pic when my cam charges.

I also assume that you can't do 1080p24 with this monitor. Am I wrong? I don't know if the HP can do it either.

Nope. Its 1080p60. No monitor on the market that I am aware of can do 24.

Here are some pics. I don't run 1:1 because of how it looks on my cable input. See, I have an HDMI to DVI cable. The 2407 can not handle a 1080i connection because it just can't. There is no interlacing on the DVI/VGA ports. The cable box can only do 1080i. So anyways, here is how it looks at 720p.

720P

Fill

Aspect

1:1

1080P

Fill/Aspect

1:1

Pics look washed out because I had to boost the contrast so you all can see the monitor frame. For 1080p, fill/aspect are identical. For 1:1, it increases the black bars by another half inch top and bottom.

As you can see by the 720p 1:1 - I don't run it for that reason. Since I run an HDMI switcher, the monitor sees DVI as 1 source so whatever I set it to do, it does no matter what. It can not differentiate between hdmi1 or hdmi2. It's all the same. That's why I don't run 1:1. Either way it looks good to me

Hope these help someone.

Thanks for the pix! I don't know why 720p is needed since most BDs are at 1080i/p. Wonder if you've tried 1080i sources like concert BDs.

Hopefully 720p games don't get squished to that size!

I gather that there would be more black bars for 1:1 mapping but that's normal, since widescreen computer monitors are 16:10 instead of 16:9.
