Default Can PS3 stream music sites?

Ok so I'm a dummy. I used to have a PS3 and traded it for something else, but now I'm looking at getting a new slimmy version possibly the 250gb when it hits next week. Hey, I'm a single 30 year old and can get myself an early xmas present I think it's awesome that Netflix is coming next month to the PS3, but was wondering if the PS3 has the ability to also stream music from sites like Pandora, Slacker, or Last.fm? I'm sure there is a work around like run it from the PC to the PS3, honestly I don't want to have to figure that out. Was just wondering if the broswer on the PS3 can access these sites and play from them or if they've integrated onto the PS3 yet? I think I tried back in the day I owned one to access pandora from the broswer and it wouldn't work.

I'm not sure how the other sites work but I listen to www.di.fm. I use TVersity and than add a music link and play it on my PS3. Works great

I always use Pandora (www.pandora.com) and AOL Radio (www.aolradio.com) for my music streaming, as they don't require any additional server utilities (TVersity, PMS, etc.). Since the PSP already does Shoutcast music streaming, I hope its only a matter of time before Sony implements that onto the PS3

My PS3 has recently been freezing when trying to get Pandora to work. It has worked in the past though. I should probably try deleting the cache/history to fix it up...

Bottom line is that they do work. Excellent piece of equipment, the PS3!

www.di.fm doesn't work. You have to copy the direct link to the channel you want. In winamp ( example) I listen to it , right click on the file and go to view file info. At the top it gives you a link with an ip address etc. that's what you copy / paste in the link for TVersity.

Maybe I'm just a fanboy, but IMHO the PS3 is the best home entertainment product released this decade. Computers win last decade, and iPods are great but they break easily and are pretty buggy. The PS3 is quality and just keeps getting better (adding upscaling of regular DVDs, decoding of DTS HD, Netflix options) the longer you have it.

iPods are like Wii's.. more hype than value... you can get way better Mp3 Players with more options and cheaper/more reliable than ipods.

Not to engage in a fanboy argument, but the iPods won the majority of the market for the same reason that the Wii's did: ease of use and functionality. While audio/videophiles tend to lean towards the more technologically-saavy machines (including the PS3), your average Joe-Schmoe is quite happy with something that will start up and get them going whether it be listening to music or playing videogames.

Yes, The Zune probably has more features than the iPod. Yes, the PS3 can do 1080p-quality video and output whatever audio your high-end receiver will want better than a Wii, but in the end it really comes down to is that people want one thing: simplicity in what they do.

I know that pandora will not work on my PSP-2001 due to the memory constraints (even with the Conserve Memory feature enable on the PSP), so I wonder if any PSP-3000/PSPGo folks are able to test this?

"Ease of use"? What do you mean? I have a Sony MP3 player, I press "play" and it plays my music. Don't want to be a smart ass, but come on, that's not an argument.

Guess you didn't read the whole point I was trying to make. Whatever.

The numbers speak for themselves.

You didn't get mine either. All I was saying is people don't buy IPod because they're easy to use, all MP3 players are "easy to use", they buy one because IT IS AN IPOD.
