You won't be seeing a US release on BLu-ray for a very long time, I'd buy it and just resuse a double case that had a digital copy in it, and combine the two

im wondering which format studios and hdtv channels using as a master tape..first they shot on 35mm than transfer it hdcam,cineform,prores,D5HD ?which one is lasts longer and having best PQ ?
if you look at the hdtv channels you can see different broadcast for old movies like star wars lotr..for example for star wars movies premiere had different transfer than sky i guess (im not sure) why dont they transfer it bluray if they had to many masters..

I've always told people they should write snail mail letters if they want something. Since I have no contacts at the Tyler Perry Company, me or Bill cold calling them when they probably don't know me from Adam isn't going to do a lot to help the cause. But an outpouring of letters from fans like you to Mr. Perry's production company can inspire THEM to make a call, and considering the box office he generates, a phone call from his people to the upstairs Is the best possible path to soonest success.

Remember also that Lionsgate is merely the distributor, and they don't call the shots on what gets made. TP's company tells them what they want and they make it happen.

This isn't a brushoff, but there are limits to where my little black book can effectively go. What I've given you is the best possible solution I have to reach the resolution you want to happen.

I'll make some calls and see if there's someone I can talk to, but I can't make any promises because making a connection like that from my existing starting point is playing six degrees of kevin bacon
My original post was written in haste and frustration, which is not meant as an excuse but as an explanation.

I apologize, and do very much appreciate the work you and The Digital Bits have done over the years.

I will blast a letter off to Mr. Perry's company. Thanks for the address.

No harm done

I did try cold calling them yesterday, the person at the front desk wouldn't tell me anything other than to call Tyler Perry's publicist. As a last attempt I actually did, and they were as mystified as I was why they would tell me to do that.

I've tried a few more avenues, but I will emphasize that writing to Tyler Perry is going to be the best possible way to achieve your goal, and if he decides he wants Blu-rays, Blu-rays he shall get.

Hey Jeff,

Transformers sold 1.2 million copies on bluray last week? Should we be impressed with this? I was expecting along the lines of 2 mill.

DO you think they will make 3 million?

With all the PS3s and BLu-ray players that will move this Christmas, I would not be suprised if they scrape 3 million by new years. They're going to sell a lot of 2packs too don't forget. Removing the quality of the actual films from the debate, they're definately top quality HD porn that move units, and retailers would be wise to sell them cheap or bundle them along with new TVs and players

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I have a question Jeff/Bill. It looks as though Star Wars : The Clone Wars season 1 has 5.1 DD audio instead of lossless. If true, any insight as to why WB is reverting back to DD on this release? And it's a Lucasfilm title at that. I thought they were supporting lossless on everything now.

WB has been doing DD 5.1 on all of their TV releases, Yes we have expressed dissatisfaction with that. But no, I don't think they're open to changing anything in the near future

Gotcha. Wouldn't Lucasfilm have a say on the matter though? Seeing what a stickler Lucas is on the technical side of things, I can't imagine him giving the ok to use DD when lossless is out there. I don't know what WB's role is on The Clone Wars, other than distributing, so that's why I'm curious. Lucasfilm usually has final say on their titles.

Nothing happens with Star Wars without Lucasfilm signing off on it. I'll try to have an inquiry sent their way though

Hi Jeff.
Do you know if Star Trek (2009) U.S. version will be region free? The same question goes to Terminator Salvation. But I assume Warner's releases are all region free.
I'm blindbuying, hope it delivers

Also, the term "double-dipping" is that from Seinfeld?
Thanks.

People have to wonder how many copies TF2 would have sold if it was actually a good movie plus the action.

I say at least 2 mill.

Still would've paled in comparison to Terminator: Salvation... if Terminator: Salvation had come with a free player.

Terminator Salvation gets a bad rap, it would have been better if they kept the original ending instead of overreacting to an AICN leak. The biggest problem with it is that a lot of character development was lopped out (and doesn't look like it was restored by the running time) and that there wasn't enough future war stuff.

In the iffy event that McG gets to make a second one (as the Terminator rights are about to be sold, and if WB doesn't buy that's going to be curtains for Sarah Connor and a Salvation sequel), I hope he realizes that we want to see 2 hours of the first 5 minutes of T2, and also want to see them CG Michael Biehn in for the transport sequence

Probably is the best answer I can give you

The term double dipping has been around long before Seinfeld decided to blow minor offenses that people forget in 2 minutes up into an entire 30 minute episodes. Today we don't need Seinfeld as we have 24 hour cable news to efficiently increase that ratio to a week.

At least one more - I can tell you that for sure
I'm much happier with my other big loud explody sequel - The Dark Knight.

I actually enjoyed Terminator Salvation quite a bit. I dont know why so many people disliked it. It wasnt great, but I enjoyed it for what it was. The biggest beef I had with it was that I never believed that Anton Yelchin's Kyle Reese was supposed to be the younger Kyle Reese.

I also highly enjoyed it, more than Terminator 1 () and 3.

Speaking of:

Terminator.jpg

Anyone know when that was announced...or if it was?

I never believed he was certain other younger people either. Hopefully he'll go away in the next movie

The DTS Master thing is not a studios move. Just like with Watchmen it's a choice because its data structure integrates better with Maximum Movie mode's branching. Sorry I don't understand the nuances better than that to explain it.

We still haven't gotten anything back on the runtime, but the BBFC has given 2 different numbers, neither of which is 135minutes.
