Pioneer will still be honoring their warranty on parts/repairs for the next 7 years. It's not like Pioneer completely went belly up....they just stopped production on the Kuro line.

You will want to buy one from an authorized dealer. Just check out their dealer list on their website for the closest one. I would try to find one locally before buying one online.

I have the 500M as well, and I'm glad I got one of these panels while they are still available. It has the best picture I've ever seen on any display. That's without the ISF patch or calibration.

Get the 500M and don't look back....you'll be much happier in the long run.

Pioneer Kuro's are great HD TV's if you love Plasma's. According to everyone that has one if you do not own one then whatever you have is inadequate. My son has one and paid 5,000.00 for it and has had more problems with it than its worth especially for what they cost. I personally would spend my money on a product that is still in business making HD TV's especially for what they cost. Why Pioneer stopped production on the so called geatest thing since sliced bread is a mystery but it is not hard to figure out if you think about it. MONEY!!!!!!!! Go with the Panasonic. The reviews on them are great for the money.

Wow that $2,160 price is the cheapest I have heard of the PRO-101FD being sold for. If that is a brand new price that is a bargain. List price on the PRO-101FD is $5,500 and some places online are selling them for around $4,000. If you have a surround sound system and a external tuner get the PRO-101FD. It comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty (Authorized Elite dealers only).

Here is a review link on the PRO-101FD monitor

Thinking about getting a 500m Pioneer myself...I saw it at a high end Home theater store a while back and have yet to see any other Plasma that comes close... I dont care for the Panny's but they have their fans... best thing is to test both for your self...

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that the bad Economy had something to do with it. And no, panasonic is not quite on the level as pioneer. But they are close.

I wouldn't say inadequate... Pio's are the best displays money can buy and the prices are very good right now so why not pick one up while you can? I love pannys too, they make great displays but for the same money you can get a KRP 500M (if not less really). And there is NO mystery behind why they quit production... The econ' tanked. Sorry for your sons bad luck but there's always going to be a bad apple in every batch, I don't care what were talking about. I have four 9G Kuro's and Kuro Elites and they are perfect in every way.

A salesman at Magnolia said they have access to 70 101's NIB for $2500.
I asked if I could use my 12% BB coupon on it and he laughed.

That's a pretty good price. Anyone looking for a 50" set in this price range should contact their local Magnolia store and see if they can get it for this price....its definitely a bargain.

Where are you located? Local Magnolia in Northern VA says they have 90 in warehouse but, won't come down below $2999.

Since you're up in NOVA it may be worth your time to drive up to New York and get a KRP-500M from Value Electronics if you have a truck to transport it with. Give them a call and see if they still have some. They don't have it on the website anymore so I don't know if they do. They may also have some 101FD's for a good price. May as well check. They're only a few hours away from you.

I checked with Value Electronics. They don't have 500's but have only one 101FD left and asking $2999 same as BB. Thanks anyways.

I'm near chicago. So I'm guessing that price was for the one they had in stock, but even $2500 is too much for a 50". Most of the BB's I've been to are clearing out the 141 and 151's for around $3500 for the display models. Plus the have zero financing for 3 years-

Even $3000 is an amazing price for this TV; (remember the retail on the set was $4500) and is meant for the custom installer crowd (according to Pioneer marketing)--sure, you compare just the price to any existing 50" and you may think it is expensive, but even the best Samsung or Panny won't get close to the quality of these PDP's...

I have the Pioneer LX-5090, and it's by far the best thing I have ever owned!
Whenever I watch my HD nature photos, or Blu-ray movies on it, I can't help but smile and yell: Yes, Yes!!! It's so beautiful!
Go get one now! You won't regret it!
The black level is better than in a theater!
It's the king of all screen!

Yes, but you could buy 3 or 4 50" Samsung plasmas for the price of a 101.
