Default My cat is bipolar...seriously

My cat (Pinball) has been acting really weird for the last few weeks. He's been meowing extremely loud (constantly), running away every time the door opens, and other eccentric things. He's 8 years old and never acted like this before. He was acting even wilder today, so I gave him a low dose of one of my hydroxyzine pills to sedate him long enough to get to the vet without him clawing my eyes out. They said he has some sort of mild infection, I forgot what. I jokingly told the doctor that he's acting like bipolar person during a manic episode, and the vet said there was a very good possibility that the infection was causing minor neurotic symptoms that can mimic human psychological disorders. He told me that Pinballs' neurotic symptoms were actually similar to human manic depression. His neurosis is only temporary, so the manic depressive symptoms should start to subside when the antibiotic starts taking affect.

My cat is bipolar. How awesome is that? I'm sure that this happens to animals all the time, but I was loling hard when he told me.

Pic related- it's Pinball. He looks like the Firefox logo when he sleeps.

I KNEW, even before clicking the thread, that this story would somehow involve you giving your cat some of your magic pills.

Why would a cat suffering from psychological problems be awesome? Do you also blow pot smoke into it's face and give it beer?

The vet gave him a Ketamine injection, does that count?

All cats are Bi-Polar. I use catnip to try and get my two cats narrowed down to just two or three different personalities. Works OK!

My cat is epileptic.

He's good for about 1 seizure a month...falls over, stretches out, locks up and makes a weird howling type meow. Finishes off by losing control of his bodily functions then panting for 10 minutes.

It brakes my daugthers hearts. I hate it too. He's 13, and I really think 1 day, it's whats going to do him in. Some last close to a minute.

Bumping this thread.

Pinball got out of the house last Saturday and I still can't find him. My house is surrounded by thick woods...so I have no idea where he could possibly be. I've been taking a nice 2-3 hour hike at midnight looking for him...but no luck. I'm sure he'll waltz into the house in a few days, but I've been really upset because it's been so long.

Looks like he's on a manic episode, haha.

We've had him 8 years...he's slept in my bed every night. It's got me really upset, but I saw some catlike animal yesterday. By the time I got back from getting a flashlight it was gone, but I have a good feeling he's not too far away.
