I expect the visuals and the audio (especially the audio!!! ) will be top notch. Having some people over tonight to watch it. My meager 52" won't do it justice like your 84", but the projector will come in time. Right now I'm taking the opposite approach that you are - I'm adding to my collection and will start working on the equipment again next year when I get my $8000 back from Uncle Sam from buying my house!
I remember the cartoons of GI Joe and Cobra when I was a kid.I used to love stuff like that.I even had some of the figurines and vehicles from the cartoon(I wish I still had them now in a Pristine Un-Opened Condition).

I expected it to be a Movie more for Action,Audio Performance and Great Video.I wasn't looking for a 3 hour Movie Masterpiece because that wouldn't stay True to the Original Concept of GI Joe/COBRA.

So I expect awesome Special Effects,Lots Of Action,Some Good Acting,And an Audio Track with Both Tons of Bass and Incredible Surround Sound Effects.

So I know I will like it,and it will be a Very Good Movie.I just am looking forward to hear how good on a Home Theater.

That way I can see where it goes on my Enormous "To Buy" List.Near the Top,Middle,or Bottom.

And I hope you Have a Wonderful Time Tonight with the Company and the Screening of the Movie. And let me say a 52 inch TV doesn't have the word Meager to it in any Aspect.

I am in the Living Room now with a 51 inch Toshiba Turned On.You most certainly can get a Projector Like look and feel with a TV of the size you have.

And May I say Congratulations on Buying a Home.Probably the Biggest and Best Investment you will Ever Make. And I dont blame you a bit on wanting to have your Blu-Ray collection grow.It allows you so much variety that even if you weren't sure if you wanted to watch a movie you could find a title to make you interested enough.

Because what good if you have a $25,000.00 system and only 1 Blu-Ray to watch on it.
So you have your priorities clear and straight on both your Home Theater and in the Bigger Picture of Life.

Congratulations.I am Impressed and Happy to meet and Know someone who has their priorities in the right order.

And Congratulations on the Amazing Gesture Pioneer's Customer Service has offered you.
A Brand New Replacement. That is a Very Kind Gesture on their Part.It will certainly make me consider Pioneer Components quite a bit more when i make purchases.

Thanks again Tals.

As far as Pioneer's support, yes I was totally surprised and impressed with it! My experience with support from various companies is that you pretty much roll the dice. I have heard horror stories and then there are pleasant stories like mine. I have found that if you stay calm, state your case and express your dissatisfaction and disappointment in a calm intelligent friendly way, you get far. In this case with Pioneer, I explained that I have been a loyal customer, going back 30+ years (true) and that this was the first time I had had problems with their gear (partially true). I explained that this would be the second time I had repaired the unit and that having to wait more than a month for the part to be available (during the Thanksgiving holiday) was not reasonable. I got lucky and had a very nice, understandable service rep who agreed and offered the replacement. So good luck if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

I see we agree - bolded statement.

A star guy! Always loved that stuff, but never really focused on more than just watching the star gazer on PBS.

You don't happen to still have this rep's name of ID# do you? It would be nice to have it if I ever need to call them in the future (not that it will ever happen.....I mean never!)

Hi,Travis,My Friend. Its Great To Chat with you Again .

I was wondering if you had a chance to remove the Enormous Cabinet you had on that main Wall in you Living Room.

I know it will probably take some time.Since you will have to co-ordinate setting up the moving with getting several individuals over there to try to move that Massive Monument of Wood.

Its great you stopped in.Any time you feel like it just stop on by.
You are always welcomed here.

Thanks Tals. I've certainly learned a lot in the last few months since I joined. I've got a few ideas and some things I'd like to do. There is a lack of balance between time and money. I'm thrilled to be a home owner and to have the opportunity to embark on some of these projects and improvements. I'll be sure to return and hang out. Thanks for having me.

Anytime,my Friend.

We can all watch our systems grow as we learn together.Because I have a tremendous amount to learn and understand. But I have always been able to find help from all the Great Members Here on the Forum.

So I will Love watching this and all the others threads,as I always have. Its a thrill watching people grow and their systems grow as well.

Its amazing where some people have started and where they are now.Kind of makes me feel as if there is hope for me as well(and Hope for Everyone).

Sorry for my first reply to your posts,Travis.

I forgot to talk about the Sub Riser. It does work.It tightened up the Bass quite a bit and help eliminate the Any Car Bass Type Boom that The Sub had a Tendancy to sound like.

So instead of a lose boom/boom/boom you would hear in a nice car audio ssystem. It is tighter and has more clarity. When the Bass Notes Hit Hard the Sub Doesn't have the Boominess.

It sounds much better to my ears. But its one of those things thats hard to explain. But if you were able to hear it on and off the Riser you would understand right away.

Sorry I couldn't come up with a better description.

I also experienced better response when I put my sub on a riser. It's only 7" but it does improve performance. Big Daddy recommends using a riser up to 2' but that is not practical in all setups. Even if you can only manage 6 - 8" you should experience an increase in decibal level and tightness. It was a fun project when I built mine and the materials are really cheap. Mine cost about $40, but half that was the rugs I used in place of carpet.

I even have a gallery of how I built my circular riser for my cylinder sub if you want to take a look.

The following is a post from BD's sticky on sub risers:

Quote:
Theoretical Foundation Behind Risers

The sound waves interact with the room boundaries (walls, floor, and ceiling) and create standing waves or room modes. The standing waves are different between floor and ceiling, side walls, and end walls, unless any of these dimensions are the same (the worst kind of room is a perfect cube). There are three basic types of modes: axial, tangential, and oblique. Examples of these modes are shown in the following diagrams:

Source: Marktaw.com

Axial Modes are the strongest and the most important, and the easiest to compute. Tangential Modes are about half as loud, and Oblique Modes are about a quarter as loud. They tend to be the least important, but if an oblique room mode occurs near another mode, that frequency may still be a problem.

If you look at the diagrams, you will notice that there are basically two types of axial modes: horizontal and vertical. Almost every person who owns a subwoofer discovers that room placement plays an important role. In reality, by moving the subwoofer around, you are dealing with the horizontal axial mode. Unfortunately, subwoofers do not understand horizontal or vertical. These classifications are in our heads. As far as subwoofers are concerned, waves are waves. We need to deal with vertical axial modes exactly the same way we dealt with horizontal axial mode, but how can we do that as Sir Isaac Newton and gravity work against us. There are two options: put the subwoofer on a riser or hang it from the ceiling and get shot by the wife in the process.
Also, if you have a hardwood floor or ceramic tile, put a rug under the riser as well to help dampen the sub.

Got some downtime here at work and i would say Todd you seem to be a pretty popular guy in the forums but honestly i guess you and mike would be the first people i really had a conversation with in this community. So you think this thread would reach 100 posts before 24 hours?

A lot of the Posts have come from Some Great Forum members just looking to say Hi and Introduce them selves(Which is Great)I would like to know as many people as possible on this Forum.

There are So Many Awesome People who hang out here.

Actually Don I have it kind of made when I get up in the Morning.

I can either watch a DVR Game,Watch the NFL Network,or listen to some tunes. So I actually have it really good.
And the best part No one else is up.

So its just me,my laptop, and the TV.
So I can do my best Bob Seagar Impersonation without anyone thinking I'm Crazy.
So life is Good at that time of the Morning,my Fried.

And since the time change I have been getting up at @ 12:30 AM.

Actually no,I am not Officially on the Night Shift.

I started taking some medicines about 4 years ago that messed up my internal body clock. So I am so tired and kind of out of it from the Meds that I go ahead to sleep around 3PM to 4PM.
And by 12:30AM to 1:30 AM I get up every Morning.

I am on Social Security Disability so I dont work. The days and the time really have NO Meaning like they used to.Its like one day is just like any other.

But I used to be a die-Hard Astronomer so I had to try to go with the meds so I could be awake during the night to use my Binoculars or Telescope. But I have been getting on the Forum, and watching the NFL Network when I get up every morning.

I see that same show 5 times every morning on the NFL Network.

Sorry to hear about it,I guess on the bright side, since you're an Astronomer and you're up at night you can always watch the stars. That would seriously mess with me though. Summertime would be the toughest I think. Winter, it's darn near dark by the time I leave work.

I know what you mean about replays. All week I can see the replays on NFL network of my Falcons giving away the game But yeah I know what you mean, at least you can kill some time on the forum.
