Default Panny 50v10 or Samsung 50B650

Need some advise on choising a Plasma. I've been researching and was now told that Samsung is the leader in plasma, please correct me if I'm wrong. I've also been told a that Futureshop is no longer going to carry the Panny V10 due to insufficient sales. People are opting for the G10.

I'm curious to know whether or not I should go for the Panny V10 because of the 24p mode / THX and the single glass or go with the Samsung B650 which has the similar mode of the 24p smooth playback.

There is also a price differance of $600 as the V10 is 2599 CDN and the Samsung is $1999 CDN.

Any help is appreciated.

SIGNED CONFUSED.

lol. Something definitely ain't working upstairs with that comment.

EDIT:

Panny V10 for 1999.90 ( Yes Canada and price match that at Best Buy for even less)

http://www.electronicsforless.ca/tvs...-tv-1557.html#

Insane deal for a great television. Better than anything I've seen Samsung deliver.

Panasonic TV's have a WAY better PQ than the Samsung. My friend has a 650 and I think it looks terrible.

Thanks Guys for the input... I've been leaning towards the panny for the last fews weeks then this curve ball was thrown at me.

As for the link you sent from Electronics for less, BEST BUY will match, I wonder if London Drugs or Futurnshop will?

It's pretty much up to the management, it's different with each store. I would just go with the first one that says yes to the price match.

Good luck!

LOL. Pany all the way!

I think, though, there may be some truth in the comment regarding people opting for the G10 over the V10. Let's face it, J6P is NOT the most tech savy nor will he appreciate the advantages of the V10 over the G10. It's sort of like why Vizios sell so well. I've always thought Vizios should go with the following slogans:

Vizio: Because everyone needs a bedroom TV

Vizio: Good enough for the average Wal-Mart shopper

Vizio: Because not everyone is obsessed with home theater

Sorry, couldn't resist...

Thanks funny, I made some phone calls and they laughed and basically told me to fly a kite. That was at Best Buy and Futureshop. I guess I'll have to just bring the paper in a wave it in front of them.

If you can't get a price match than just order from them online, I know a few people that did and were pleased.

$1999.90 for the V10 is an incredible price for us Canucks.

Yeah they certainly do, because, they are probably stuck with the samsung name, most people get caught up in the name brands and miss out the real good quality products.

So true. That's how I ended up with the BD player I have now. Just didn't know any better, and was talking them up like crazy, so the wife bought it for my b-day. Ghostbusters has been out since June and I still can't play it. Samsung customer service is non-existent...rude, and unwilling to commit to a solution for a player that won't play popular titles. Never again.

I agree that Panny is better but is Panasonic not also considered a "name brand"?

I've always been a fan of Panasonic actually. Even my old CRT was a panny, and except for some Sony's it looked so much better than most other CRTs I watched. I don't know if panny was known for being good with crts or not, but my tv certainly looked really good compared to most other tvs I saw back then.

I've seen the 54V10 side by side with the Sammy 860...no comparison. The Panasonic is clearly superior. You don't know how bad I want that 54 inch but I just can't afford it.

Awesome... Really enjoy the new television. Still trying to figure out some of the menus but all is working out pretty good.

Just wondering why some to the Menu Functions are greyed out. IE: in Stardard Picture, I can't adjust the Block NR, 3:2 Pull Down, H Size, turn on or off the 24p. I can't use the Zoom adjustments, adjust the Digital Cimema Color. Most of these features don't allow me to adjust.

Is the Game Mode an auto feature like the 600hz sub field IE: you don't turn on or off.

I'm new a this plasma thing as I came from an older rear projection that didn't have this type of technology.

I found the manual not very helpfull

Any input would be helpful.
