You're not alone, I also noticed this weird criss-cross like video noise, which seemed to pulse in and out in intensity. It doesn't look like source film grain to me.

Does anybody know what this is?

I also noticed the same thing in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd (which is of course a far more recent movie, therefore much harder to blame the source)

Thanks

Do you mean the UK or US version? I've got the UK version, and I don't think I noticed what you mentioned. Perhaps I need to view it again from the top and pay more attention this time.

Hi, one question. Im new on bluray and 1080p. Why the ''old'' movies, like this got a noise.
I saw this in this movie in director's cut, and teathrical cut. All rocky movies, not rocky VI.
Totall recall indeed. 2010 too. Anyway all this is great than dvd format, but i have taht doubt!!

Thank u all!!

I have a simple question that I hope someone can answer for me. The last copy of Highlander I bought was on DVD, and it was the first to feature a remastered 5.1 soundtrack.

That soundtrack came complete with a number of really horrible, incongruous sound effects that were not in the original US release or earlier "director's cut" releases.

Does this Blu-ray release eliminate those superfluous and distracting effects?

My dream version of Highlander, frankly, would be the original US edit (yes, I like it better without the additional scenes), with a faithful-to-the-original remaster of the audio. Bonus points if it also had a way to enable the director's cut version.

I know what you mean Mike. While I don't have a print of the original sitting around to compare to the UK Blu, that disc certainly doesn't sound like the naff Anchor Bay remix.

Guess today is my lucky day! I was about to place an order in the Amazon US store, and for no particular reason I decided to check out the UK store also. Guess what? This BD is on sale for JUST around USD 15 (including shipping!!!) I should have it in my hands in about 10 days or less.

Ok, new question guys. Can anyone confirm to me if the regular (non-Steelbook) edition from the UK is region lock or not? I missed my chance in getting the steelbook edition, now I hope to get the regular edition. Thanks in advance.

Guys-

I'm extremely interesting in owning this movie on Blu-ray.

I guess the only thing to get, is the UK Version.

However, I've read tons of stuff about the audio sounding very reverby.

I take it most people on here go with the stereo 2.0 track? Are there any decent audio tracks on the Blu-ray?

How is the AQ otherwise? I heard the Queen soundtrack is much less intense that it should have been.

Sad to say you are quite accurate for the most parts on AQ. I remember watching the VHS some 12 years ago, and the AQ "sounded" much more powerful than this BD. Or let me just say, somehow the AQ sounds very dated.
