blu-ray any punch to the video. Sort of like bland regular standard dvd look to it but with monstercable HDMI 1000EX 15.8 Gbps it was like watching a movie for the very first time especially animation with details with 3d look to it that I never noticed before with the other cables |

I guess, personally, I have never experienced that sort of difference. But different equipment may respond differently to certain cables. Glad you are enjoying your setup even more now. ![]() |

![]() HDMI cables are not going to make colors any different, blacks blacker, a sharper picture or anything like that. Poor cables will result in snow, sparklies, dropouts and other artifacts that clearly denote a signal problem, but they certainly will not make the picture generally 'bland'. It doesn't work like that, and has been proven time and again. |

We won't need those cables until deep colour 120Hz 2160p content comes along! (and even then if most testing is any indicator the majority of HDMI 1.1 certified cables will still work at under 20ft or so!) |

then using cheap hdmi cables costing under $10 just because they are cheap doesn't make them any good Last edited by [1080-p]; 11-06-2009 at 06:47 PM. |

So, you A/B tested the different cables, making sure there was no more than a couple of seconds between switches? If not, there is absolutely no validity to the comparison. Human visual and audial memory is limited to a couple of seconds. After that, only general statements will be valid, judgements on detail, accuracy of color, and so on cannot be made. This is biology, this is the human sensory system, this cannot be escaped. If you do not compensate for it, all you are doing is giving yourself the illusory confirmation of what you expected. This is not an insult to your personal senses or to you. This is biology plain and simple.
I wish someone would start offering perception and neuropsychology courses for A/V fans online. Over and over you get reviews from people who hook up one set of gear, test it, unhook it, hook up another set of gear and test it and then try to compare. This just does not work. People say "Of course I remember what I saw/heard", no you don't. Not at a critical level. The senses do not work that way. You remember generalities and second by second more of the fine detail, all of the things people wax poetic about fade more and more and are replaced by the persons retroactive expectations of the experience. Cable companies and even hardware manufacturers have made vast fortunes based on taking advantage of the fact that generally only people with medical and/or psychology backgrounds are really aware of these facts. People trust what they think they see and hear, but one should not depend on one's senses without taking some steps to minimize the limitations of biology. I know most brand zealots will dismiss this out of hand, it only takes a little research to determine the facts but people generally don't want the facts. I am not saying that there is no difference between any cable or any gear, I believe there can be a big difference in different gear, big differences between analog cables, and smaller differences between digital cables, I am just pointing out that people make all of these definitive statements with zeal and confidence without even a basic knowledge of how the gear in their skulls work. On the specific topic of Monster HDMI cable, I have yet to see a single good explanation of how the same copper wire made on the same factory line in China gets a better picture and better audio with a Monster wrapper and Monster plugs on the end than with a Monoprice, Sony, or other brand wrapper. There are still only a couple of factories, all but one in China, manufacturing HDMI wire. This is a fact. All of the copper is sourced from these limited number of lines and the single line in the US is exclusive to Blue HJeans Cables, and even they have to send their US made wire to China for termination since there is still no cost-effective way to do it in the US. This is not a knock on wire manufactured in China, all of it with the one exception comes from there. Rather the question is, what magic makes the Monster shine up the data so much? The only differences are that the Monster has a Monster wrapper, which might give a little better shielding, but the lack of good shielding would cause noticeable artifacts, not slight differences in A/VQ, the terminations, which again bad ones would cause artifacts and dropouts, and the number of tests run upon the wire. So unless the very act of passing the test somehow magically makes the particular length of wire coat the ones and zeros in shiny, beautiful gold, how is the improvement happening if it truly is?
