There's always temptation. Get the Oppo 83. Move up to the Panny 60 from the 35. But in reality theres not much tech wise I can do.

Remember....the XPA-3 went on sale for $399 last year. I am waiting for a bit to see if I can catch that deal again.

I think I'm about back to being more active here, especially since I haven't made any changes to my ol' girl in months!

First things first - anybody interested in purchasing my Antec Veris A/V Cooler? I never ended up getting an amp, and doubt I will in the foreseeable future, so the cooler is basically sitting there, useless. It is $79.00 new from Amazon, and its in perfect shape, and have the box and everything - $60.00 sound good?

Second - anybody have any ideas on quick projects to upgrade aesthetics in the old place? I think I'm all lighted out, but I feel like it needs something else - I remember having a crazy idea of making a wood frame, giving it a cherry finish, putting absorption panels on it, and putting it on my ceiling...hmmm...anybody got ideas?

Your place would look sweet with a projector and a nice big screen. That was going to be one of my recommendations.

With the Plasma on the wall , Have A pull down screen just in front of it . Nice big throw of the image from the projector .

So what kind of changes are you thinking of making to the decor? maybe building something?

Well, after thinking it out a bit, here's a few changes I've come up with to execute over the next 2-3 months.

- Removing that coffee table (reflective as all hell and really unnecessary) and putting a large black area rug in its place as well as an ottoman in the middle

- New rugs/New posters

- Re-wire everything (I feel like this needs to be redone every now and then - I dont mean cut new cable and whatnot, just take it all out to clean, and then put it down again.

- See about new track lighting

- Repaint walls

- Finally get either a 3-ch or 5-ch amplifier (this is definite)

- One of the newer Panny players (for 24p on my DVDs)

- And! If I feel bold enough, a frame with absorbing panels that I can hang over some of my ceiling to tone down reflections from above.

I feel like this can all be done within my time frame. Most of it is just freshening up the place. Since I rent, I can't really get TOO crazy.

Those are very cool big bang upgrades. I will especially be hoping you take on the ceiling panels since that is one I am in desperate need of and would love to see how it turns out. Good luck!

Welcome "back" JJ. Nice to see you around and getting active again here. I like the amp idea and the acoustic treatments. As far as aesthetics, what color paint are you going to go with and what posters are you looking at?
