yeah, if i read you right, you're essentially saying it comes down to what the customer intentions are at the time of signup:

-if they have no intention of maintaining the membership at time of signup: not good
-if they have full intention of maintaining the membership at time of signup: perfectly fine

very reasonable opinion.

Hmm...no change on the Blu-ray prices yet on B&N online but hopefully you guys score at the in-store purchases.

By any chance, does anyone remember how long the Criterion sale went? Was it a whole month or a whole week?

hmmm. The semi-annual 20 to 25 percent sale at DDD has morphed into a less attractive 40% off MSRP. Hoping that Planet or DDD comes up with something tempting before Xmas.

Went to B&N earlier and can confirm that ALL IN-STOCK TITLES ARE 50% OFF.

Picked up The Complete Monterey Pop for $26.50 and Howards End / The Third Man on Blu for $13 each. Heading back in a few hours for more

That's great!!! Saw the guy who purchased seven. Wished B&N was nearby...too far. But hopefully the online site fixes their dang prices on Blu's.

Just came back from my first trip way across the street. I honestly can't believe it, but the copy of Seventh Seal my girlfriend casually put behind a few season one Heroes DVD box sets was still there four days later. So that was my first purchase.

Going back at lunch. I don't think I'm going to push and try to use the coupon on more than one item at a time, plus I'm close enough where making a few trips in a day isn't so bad. Go at lunch, again after work, then maybe to one on 17th street on the way to the movies tonight. That would be four blu-rays, not bad for a first day of shopping.

The real dilemma now is I definitely saw a few Criterion DVDs that I've always wanted but never got. I know I'd rather have them on Blu-Ray when they eventually come out like that, but even the DVDs are tempting at $13.

Just picked up the blu-rays for Bottle Rocket, The Complete Monterey Pop Festival, Howard's End, Kagemusha, Pierrot le fou and Wings of Desire. I was able to use the $5 off one DVD/blu-ray coupon and the $5 off a purchase of $50 or more.

I'll head back next week, after I'm paid again, and pick up Monsoon Wedding and Play Time, on blu-ray, and then I'll probably grab a couple of DVDs, also.

Amazon has been known to have sales in conjunction to B&M retailers..... and they've also been known to have sales on multiple Criterion titles at once, so I would suspect (perhaps expect) that to be the case this time.... time will tell.

I will wait a little longer because it usually takes Amazon some time to price match the retailers. If they do not match I will take a drive.

Got Wings Of Desire on BD for $13 after 50% sale, 10% membership bonus, and $5 coupon. Also picked up Z, Solaris, and Last Days of Disco on standard DVD and was able to use the $5 off of $50 or more purchase coupon.

Seriously eyed Seven Samurai, but I figure Criterion HAS to release that on BD at some point (barring them losing the rights first, in which case I'll just get the DVD at that point).
