Every time a firmware update is released there are a number of topics about how "FW X.XX killed my BD Drive" or whatever. If anything *actually* happened, their system just coincidentally broke after the update, NOT because of it. People's systems break all the time, with 26+ million consoles sold to-date it is logical that on any given day a number of systems will break, even at 1% failure rate (don't know the actual number). EDIT: I should mention, this trend seems to have begun after firmware 1.40 (I think), where there was a small chance of peoples consoles "bricking" from the FW. This was confirmed by Sony, only affected a small percentage of consoles, and wasn't a hardware problem. After that though, maybe people became paranoid? |
