I've lent out my DVDs quite a few times... but never collector sets (I once had a friend that wanted to borrow my entire Ultimate Superman Collector Set :|) and I've always got them back without any issue. In fact a friend has had my copy of Young Guns since the summer, its okay, he won't do anything -- I know where he lives... muwahahaha!

But since the OP asked about Blu, since no one other than me in my family and friends circle has a blu ray player or even a PS3 I don't have to worry about it.

We'll see what happens when Blu ray gets more popular and my family starts investing in the future of home video entertainment.

Do you loan your Blu-rays out to friends?

Hell to the no.

My movies rarely leave my house. I have loaned out too many movies and never got them back that I just don't do it anymore.

No loaning on my part. If they want to see it by all means come over and watch with me.

Same here. I'll point out to others where the sales are if they want to get a copy for themselves but my discs stay put.

I only have two friends that ever ask to borrow movies, and they're both very responsible and always get my blu-rays back to me fairly quick and in the same condition that they left in.

no offense to anyone here...... but even if a person gave me a whole "well, I've had some go missing" story, etc.... If I asked to borrow a movie, and someone told me "No" I'd be pretty offended........

Friendship is worth more than $20

No, if they want to borrow it I just bring it over and watch it with them.

Of course, they've never actually asked to borrow them. They just ask me to bring them over and watch anyway.

True, and I don't see what the big deal is since BD's are durable and easily replaceable. To appreciate that, one need only consider what things were like "back in the day" of VHS tapes (I had one movie I paid $50 for returned that was jammed and unplayable). Or even worse - vinyl records; one of my friends borrowed my entire drum corps collection (not easy to replace for obvious reasons) and brought them back warped and completely useless from leaving them in his car in the summer. But BD's? Go ahead and share!

I'm usually picky with who borrows my stuff but to this day, no one has borrowed any of my Blus. It's either 1) they already own said title or 2) still in DVD mode.

If I lose a "friend" over the fact that I don't loan them personal property that isn't of a critical nature then they aren't really "friends".

I don't ask to borrow and my friends don't axe me.

Your hungry or your kid needs medicine I am all over it. But nobody "needs" to borrow personal items.

I let a friend borrow my Freedom Blu-ray Set ($100) and it took him over 3 months to return it so NO MORE! All it takes is 1 to ruin it for everyone

I don't have any friends that have blu-ray, but if I did I would not lend out my blu-rays. I loke my case and disc in prestine condition and I am afraid that when they return it it will not be in good condition.

There are 3 of us that bought our bluray players a year ago (black friday 2008), but only two of us regularly buy blus, but we don't mind lending blus to the one that doesn't buy regularly, and we also lend blus between us. I currently have my friend's "Transformers 2" and I plan to lend "Amadeus" to the one that doesn't buy much.

Like somebody said before we're all friends, we all take care of the other ones blus so no problem.

I would only loan a blu-ray DVD to one friend who has proved with regular DVDs that he can be trusted. With blu-rays cost being up there I am reluctant to loan any out except to my one friend. I have 201 blu-rays I play on a Panasonic 50" TV.
