You do know there are tons of hidden red orb chests right? And finding both muse keys gets you atleast a couple thousand extra orbs.

Well I ran through on Easy and did the Muse keys (if you saw my post on the previous page) and maxed out everything except Artemis Blade which I'm on Level 1 or 2.

I got at worst 90% of the hidden red orbs boxes, perhaps 95%.

And if you can't do it on one run through, how do you start a new game with all your weapons and magic carried over?

Including the magic upgrades? If so then maybe it is possible? I'm not at the end yet (in the Hades Challenge right now) but it seems impossible for me to get enough orbs to upgrade everything.

i dont remember there being a way to do that, you just have to get ALL the orbs i guess

Hmmm Im guessing you missed a fair amount of chests. Like I said on my first playthrough on easy I had hundreds of orbs left over, and after playing it again I found even more hidden chests.

By the time you get to the oracle for instance, you should already have found like atleast couple dozen hidden orb chests.

Oh also, how are you for combos? The part where the wall is closing in on you and there are a ton of zombie enemies, you should be able to get a combo of atleast a couple hundred (my best was 500+, so that gives a ton of extra orbs)

Also: Killing minotaurs, hydras, etc straight up gives you red orbs instead of life/magic, keep that in mind.

Ill tell you how I do on Hard once im done.

Just remember: the camera hides a ton of orb chests
- there are a lot of walls to be broken in this game
- get better at combos, since combos lead to more orbs. Hades' magic is phenomenal at boosting your combos, as is Poseidon's. And remember once the blades of chaos are maxed, you get infinite magic in Rage of the Gods.
- go geronimo style!! Sure you might die a lot, but there are a good amount of orb chests to be found by jumping off edges.
- Kill large enemies with weapons, and not with the mini games, if possible. This gives a lot of extra orbs.

Lastly, the game has more Eye/Feather chests than you actually need. Therefore if you find all the eye/feather chests early, then the remaining chests will be packed with red orbs instead.

On the original games this was only possible in GOW2. By collecting the special chest near the beginning of the game.

Unless GOW1 has the option to start with the powered up weapons when you restart, which I don't think it did. Why are you guys playing it on easy anyway?

On Easy it is not possible to max everything out. Best you can get is around 90% (there are plenty of threads on gamefaqs.com to support this). I finished it on Normal once, and I don't recall if it is possible in that mode.

This is much easier to do on GoW 2 due to the game+ mode. From memory, I'm thinking GoW 1 doesn't have game+. You have to start over and either run through on a harder mode or do the red orb glitch.

I finished it on Normal and I needed 1500 orbs to max everything out. It was very disheartening. And yes, I did do the Muse Keys and found the extra chests. Did it in 6 hours and 30 minutes. I've got a feeling if I did another play through and did it on easy without looking for extra chests, I could easily do it under 5 hours.

Though I thought what may have been my downfall was using the Medusa's Head on the minotaurs which yields no orbs.

I sometimes like to play games on easy mode just for the fun of it. The skills in this game come from the puzzles anyways. I find Easy to be more relaxing/enjoyable and once I finish that playthrough I'll usually try it again on hard.
That's why I don't like games where you have to play it on Hard to unlock the HardER difficulty. If it were up to me, a complete on Easy would unlock it to those who want to play as well.

Alright, I went and loaded my PS2 GOW1 game saves:

On normal I maxed everything with about 3000+ orbs left over.

My original easy save is gone, but my girlfriends old one she needed about 400-500 more orbs by the end of the game to max everything. Im positive with my combo skills I could have gotten more orbs. Plus we know more hidden chest locations now.

Yeah its best to try and kill everything with your regular combos.
I just tried my original PS2 save on Normal, and Ive maxed everything with over 3k orbs left over. Play time was at 8:30 before

[Show spoiler]the final fight with Ares but after the fight to save Kratos' family. You should be able to do multiple 100+ combos during that fight for extra orbs

Thats a +4500 orb difference

There are a lot more hidden chests than some people realize. Even I dont think ive found 95% of the chests, and ive played this game about 4 times now (on my 5th playthrough right now)

You can beat the whole game doing SQ SQ Triangle on easy. Geez, you must really find it challenging, or boring.. or something.

I must admit though, i've never tried on the harder settings, I don't see a point since the only game difference is that the enemies take more energy from you and are much harder to kill. Normal strikes the balance nicely.


Most of the chests are in breakable walls and hidden camera angles. There are a ton of hidden ones where you get the key from the lady that kills herself. Amongst other places. But the harder ones to find are in the huts and the market square place.

Haha, just remembered, some are scattered in the desert, bet its fun getting those...

For the 3rd or 4th time, just start a new game with Tyconius (Kratos in business suit). He gets double or triple the orbs. You can max out everything as soon as you get the last magic. Its very simple.
