Default Can somebody please post .....

a pic of what "3-D like" is suppose to look like on Blu-ray ? I keep hearing "3-D Like".

I got a new TV - 52' 1080P LCD. Blu-rays are 100 times better than DVD .... but I have no idea what 3-D like is suppose to look like. Maybe I've been raising my expectations to high when I hear 3d-Like.

Thanks!

3-D Like is seeing a depth of field. It should very noticable what is supposed to be in the fore ground. Plus, think about your request, it is impossible.

I want pictures of 4-D!!! Snap some pics of time and send them my way! How could you capture a 3D image on a 2D image? lol

No, but for real... I think they mean how clear the background is. When it isn't just a blurry BG the entire picture seems to "pop" out at you... creating a 3D like image.

Generally happens when you have an image with well done colors (not muted, but lively) and a lot of contrast. You'll end up with an image that just looks very much "real".

A couple examples I can think of offhand:

Crank: lots of color and a lot of contrast within a given scene (like when hes driving his car while calling his doctor, for example).

Rocky Balboa: When him and Paulie are visiting some spot at night -- there are bright lights behind him (from his van, I believe) illuminating only part of his face. That's a pretty amazing looking scene there.

It's kind of unfair, because there are a lot of movies which just aren't supposed to have bright and lively colors or insane contrast... so not all movies can really manage a "3D" looking picture like Crank or Rocky Balboa (even if they have amazing detail).

What people refer to "3-D like" on the internet is not 3D (Tridimensional, stereoscopic vision). They refer to very sharp, and usually grainless, imageing, like if your TV was an empty aquarium and you put some toys or miniature men on it. Of course this fake "3-D-esness" depends on the quality of the image and the distance from where you look at it. I'm sure that if you step far away from a VHS īmage it also looks "3D-like" at one point

If you can get or have Casino Royale, here are 2 specific instances where you will see a 3-D effect:

1. Towards the end of the movie, when they've just gotten to Venice, there is a very 3-D like shot of St. Marks Square.

2. In the very last scene with the mansion on the lake, as the camera is zooming in on the mansion it is 3-D like.

There is an illusion of depth in those 2 scenes.
